McLaren scores giant sponsor as Estrella Galicia makes comeback after 3 years with Ferrari

McLaren scores a huge sponsorship deal as they onboard Estrella Galicia after losing them to Ferrari three years ago when Carlos Sainz shifted to the Scuderia.

McLaren scores giant sponsor as Estrella Galicia makes comeback after 3 years with Ferrari

Spanish brand Estrella Galicia 0.0 is one of the biggest names in the beer industry thanks to their enormous sponsorship deals. The brainchild of brewer Hijos de Rivera has been a loyal supporter of Carlos Sainz as of his principal sponsors ever since his GP3 days in 2013. When Sainz finally made his way into Formula 1 in 2015, Estrella Galicia followed him. And from 2019, the brand became an official sponsor of McLaren as Carlos Sainz signed on to become a part of the papaya army alongside Lando Norris.

In 2021, Carlos Sainz jumped on board the Ferrari ship as he was replaced by Daniel Ricciardo at McLaren. Estrella Galicia left McLaren as well as became the official beer sponsor of Scuderia Ferrari. The partnership remained intact for two years but now, it has been reported that the beer company is making a comeback to McLaren, perhaps because they did not enjoy the same profits from their partnership with Ferrari as they did during their McLaren days.

Estrella Galicia’s Chief Marketing Officer Jose Cabanas sounded all cheery as he spoke about the brand’s new sponsorship deal with McLaren.

We are thrilled to start a new chapter in our F1 journey in papaya colours and I’m sure that we will have great things to toast for during the season.

Ferrari quickly replaces their departing sponsor by poaching one of Aston Martin’s

The Formula 1 fans seem to be in for a ‘beer sponsorship silly season’ during the 2023 season break. While McLaren recently welcomed their old sponsor Estrella Galicia back into the team, Scuderia Ferrari seemed to be lacking a beer sponsor of their own. They had been partnering with Estrella Galicia ever since Carlos Sainz joined them in 2021, but now, they decided to part ways with the Spanish beermakers. In their place, Ferrari will now have Peroni as their sponsor.

As a top Italian non-alcoholic drink brand, Peroni was previously in a partnership deal with Aston Martin for three years. But now, Ferrari have perhaps played into the sentiments of the team sharing the same country of origin as Peroni, and have thus scored a big sponsorship by poaching them from Aston Martin. It is not yet known which brand, if any, will replace Peroni at Aston Martin.
