Punjab Kings (PBKS) are bound to be an upbeat bunch after their nail-biting win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their campaign opener. Their opponents today Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on the other hand, lost their opening encounter against Delhi Capitals (DC). The Men in Yellow further find themselves languishing at the bottom of the table by virtue of their inferior net run-rate.
CSK would want to come back with a strong reply following the disappointing display in their first match. A win today would be a statement to other teams that they should not be taken lightly. PBKS on the other hand, would only want for their excellent batting form to continue. They would feel however, that there is plenty of room for improvement in the bowling department, especially among the overseas players.
Who will win today’s match: PBKS vs CSK
It is extremely difficult to predict as to who would win going into this clash. Both teams look equally well-equipped and capable of getting a win. However, PBKS could fancy their chances of winning a little more due to the fact that they are coming off the back of a victory. Even with the likes of Mayank Agarwal and Nicholas Pooran not contributing much, they got to 221 in the previous match and hence, their confidence with regard to batting would be sky-high.
That, coupled with CSK’s dismal bowling display in the previous match and the excellent conditions for batting at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai would mean that PBKS could get a win over CSK today. If the Men in Yellow turn up with a vintage performance like they most often do, it could be a whole different story, but PBKS would be favourites today.
