Ali Abdelaziz is the manager of Islam Makhachev. He recently did an interview with The Schmo where Abdelaziz said that Makhachev will fight whenever the UFC gives a date. He said:

Whatever UFC is gonna give us the date, he will fight at least two times this year. At minimum.

According to his manager, Ali Abdelaziz, UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev is expected to fight at least twice in 2024. Makhachev last fought in October 2023, when he defended his title against Alexander Volkanovski for the second time in eight months. Islam Makhachev backed out from fighting recently due to Charles Oliveira withdrawing from their UFC 294 lightweight title rematch. Later Dana White confirmed that Makhachev vs. Oliveira 2 would not headline UFC 297 amid rumors. He said that Islam Makhachev was still recovering from an injury.

Makhachev himself expressed his desire to fight twice in 2024, with his first bout potentially against Justin Gaethje. According to Ali Abdelaziz, Makhachev aims to fight in June-July and November. Makhachev’s consistent performance has made him a prominent figure in the sport, like his contemporary Khabib Nurmagomedov.
