The 2023 season marked the end of the Cup Series career of Kevin Harvick, one of the most decorated drivers ever in the sport. He ventured into broadcasting with Fox Sports soon after the retirement. Surprisingly Havick made his Cup return replacing Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson at North Wilkesboro.

Kevin Harvick was given the opportunity by Rick Hendrick to drive in the practice session at North Wilkesboro All Star Race, as the No:5 Chevy driver Kyle Larson had to participate in the Indy 500 practice sessions with Arrow McLaren. The ex-SHR driver has been fully involved in the preparations for the race weekend and talked about it ahead during the All-Star weekend.

He pointed out that unlike the teams, RCR and SHR, he has been part of in the Cup series, HMS is run in an entirely different way. He pointed out that the organization is structured in way that it’s deep into the racing and business side of the things, which he likes. Harvick also added that the team is run truly like a business.

There are a million different ways you can do things, but I think the thing that sticks out for me about Hendrick Motorsports, in general, is it’s truly run like a business that’s part of an actual structure of how things flow and who you talk to. There’s the depth of the business side and the racing side. It’s deep. I think that is pretty eye-opening… I like structure, so I think that’s something that has been good to see.

I was very fortunate to have a very, very good race team at Stewart-Haas. To walk into another very, very good race team and see the things that go on and happen, it’s fun to get a peek behind the curtain.

The new experience would give Kevin Harvick more insights into how the Next-Gen car has evolved since his retirement. This would help him to give a better perspective about the races during broadcast.
