Lewis Hamilton‘s recent win at the British GP has brought Mercedes back to life after an underwhelming start to the 2024 season. The Brackley-based team has won two races in quick succession at Spielberg and Silverstone, which has established the outfit as a competent challenger.

Mercedes endured a slow start to the season, failing to win or score any podiums in the first eight races after being heavily outpaced by the likes of McLaren and Red Bull. But with good performances at Montreal, Monaco, and Silverstone, the Silver Arrows are now one of the most improved teams on the grid, battling closely for the top spots weak in and week out.

Mercedes Trackside Engineering Director, Andrew Shovlin has spoken on the upgrades that have brought a radical turnaround in the team’s fortunes. Shovlin has then said that the German team will be keen on notching more wins as they chase a higher finish in the championship.

We said at the start of this year that we were determined to go out on a high with Lewis. He has been such a huge part of the team's history. So to not have gotten more wins with him would have been upsetting, but it was just brilliant to see him up there.

Shovlin asserted there was a need for the team to win more races with Lewis Hamilton. Moreover, a race win at the latter’s home proved to be the best treat of them all. Mercedes will now look to continue their form heading into Budapest and Spa.

Toto Wolff claims everything clicked in ‘fairytale’ win at the British Grand Prix

Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff has applauded the team for their efforts after a memorable win in Silverstone. Wolff has claimed that the team was able to get everything right by outpacing the likes of Red Bull and McLaren.

It clicked. Suddenly everything that didn't make sense made sense. And the development direction is the result of the development directions in back in the old days. We are finding performance, we're putting it on the car, and it translates into lap time. And that wasn't the case for the last two years.

Toto Wolff has made it known that Mercedes was persistent in finding better performances for the better part of two years. But, was not able to do so due to some unexplainable hindrances. Wolff concluded that the Silver Arrows finally got what the team had been searching for as they took the win at the British GP.

With two back-to-back triumphs, Mercedes has now scored 221 points in the championship and is behind McLaren, who stand third with 295 points. Wolff and Co. will be content having found their long-lost pace in F1 and will be hoping to carry this form going ahead into the 2024 F1 season.
