Shedeur Sanders’ fame affecting his draft stock as journalist points out biased feedback at NFL Combine
Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is facing a lot of criticism from the media and teams at the NFL Combine.

At the NFL Combine, players are expected to work out with position coaches as scouts look for confirming clues on prospects they wish to select in the upcoming draft. In the quarterback class, Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward are touted as the two top options as teams look to decide who will be their starting QB.
There are at least four teams picking in the top seven of the 2025 NFL Draft who need quarterbacks. All of them are looking at both Sanders and Ward as the debate continues on who is better at their position. Cam Ward, though, is working out at the NFL Combine throwing passes and participating in drills.
But the Colorado Buffaloes star was not getting warmed up. He made it clear that his four years of game tape was enough for teams to get an idea about his game. The star was not going to risk injury and was only going to attend team interviews.
Those interviews started earlier today, and teams were speaking with each of those players. That is when news came out that a team’s quarterbacks coach branded Shedeur Sanders as ‘brash’ and ‘arrogant’. Hearing this, journalist Josina Anderson posted a lengthy message on X.
According to league sources, said QB coach seems to have issue with “the culture” of athletes who have broad fame and financial success before entering the NFL, and in their* opinions, appears to them to have a problem certain athletes—I’ll leave it at that.
Josina Anderson wrote
I am disappointed to hear that a quarterbacks coach from a team drafting in the top 7 referred to Shedeur Sanders as coming off “brash” and “arrogant” in his team interview and making his assessment known to a number of people, per source. Her words seem to suggest that Sanders’ fame has affected the said quarterback’s coach. Now, his comments have spread across the NFL landscape. Josina Anderson believes this smear campaign is born out of jealousy.
Shedeur Sanders ranked extremely low in latest NFL Mock Draft
That anonymous quarterback coach’s opinions came out earlier today. Those comments came on the backdrop of some other negative opinions some had after he chose not to workout at the NFL Combine. Now, the latest NFL Mock Draft throws up further questions.

NFL media’s draft analyst Lance Zierlein believes neither of the top seven teams will select Shedeur Sanders. In fact, he has the 23-year-old going at no. 29 to the Cleveland Browns, that too if they manage to trade with the Washington Commanders. That is much lower than the QB himself and his peers expected him to go.
Sanders slammed ESPN’s mock draft from a few weeks ago that positioned him at No. 6. He could not believe they felt Cam Ward was better than him, or that he would drop that low. Now, his reluctance to work out, his supposed behavior and everything that surrounds him has dropped him to No. 29.

With the Draft less than two months away, the situation is not helping Shedeur Sanders. He will throw at the Big 12 Pro Day two weeks from now, which will help him make up some ground. But until then, it seems the narrative will likely continue on this note.
