WATCH: UNSEEN footage of what Roman Reigns did after getting hit by CM Punk’s GTS on SmackDown
CM Punk made a statement by putting Roman Reigns to sleep on SmackDown. In its aftermath, Paul Heyman was walking on eggshells.

The ongoing saga involving Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Seth Rollins took an unexpected turn on this week’s SmackDown. In the main event, The Best in the World finally cashed in his favor and announced that Paul Heyman will be in his corner at WrestleMania 41. Since Heyman couldn’t turn Punk down, Reigns physically threatened his Wiseman. It triggered Paul’s former client to clock Roman with a GTS.
Seeing the drama unfold, Rollins was wise enough to retreat. The segment ended with Heyman screaming at his Tribal Chief’s misery and Punk doing his signature ‘Go To Sleep’ taunt. However, WWE has now uploaded what transpired between Reigns and Heyman after SmackDown went off air. As seen below, The Head of the Table is trying to get a feel of his jaw that took a toll from the GTS.
Reigns made his way to the back with a slow-paced walk, with Paul closely following him. And of course, The Wiseman was terrified. One could tell by Heyman’s face that he was sobbing. The Special Counsel to the record-breaking Undisputed WWE Champion is visibly aware of the imminent repercussions.
He made a schoolboy error by vowing to accept anything Punk would’ve asked of him during the SmackDown broadcast. Heyman’s bound to accompany The Second City Saint on April 19 inside the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The long-milked favor of Punk has been deemed underwhelming by the WWE Universe. However, there might be more that meets the eye in this scenario.
Roman Reigns’ WrestleMania streak will be broken this year
Since aligning himself with Paul Heyman in late 2020, Roman Reigns has gone on to become one of the biggest stars WWE has ever seen. No one in the modern era has come closer to his 1316-day world title reign that was ended by Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania XL. In the last four years or so, Heyman has been instrumental in orchestrating the Tribal Chief arc of the man they once called—The Big Dog.

However, the former Shield member is about to walk down that aisle at WrestleMania without his wiseman. It hasn’t happened since WrestleMania 37. The fans are speculating that the end might be near for Reigns. Turning the clock back to the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony, Heyman headlined that class.

A prelude to Paul’s widely acclaimed speech saw Reigns publicly acknowledging his Special Counsel. The OTC conspicuously mentioned that the moment he’s no longer with the Wiseman would be the end of the Tribal Chief. Is Heyman’s rumored change of allegiance a premonition of things to come? It might be.
Roman and Heyman have had their ups and downs. At one point when The OTC was feuding with Brock Lesnar in 2021, the Reigns-led Bloodline kicked Paul out. However, The former WCW CEO was soon accepted back into the family by Reigns. As things stand months into 2025, a large section of the audience feels Roman has outgrown Heyman’s presence. As a result, it might be high time they split up.
Are Roman Reigns and CM Punk building towards their singles match?
The prospect of Roman Reigns main eventing his tenth WrestleMania this year is enough to trick some people into believing that he’s still in his heyday. Also, with Paul Heyman starting to become more of a distraction to The OTC, it doesn’t help his cause either.

At the moment, the former Bloodline boss seems more vulnerable to losing than ever. CM Punk has vowed to pull Reigns out of his comfort zone and asserted that the Big Uce would have to deal with it. At WrestleMania, Seth Rollins might end up stealing a march over both Roman and Punk. The Visionary isn’t the centrepiece of the story and it could work in his advantage.

Assuming that Rollins drops out, it’d allow WWE to further the story between Reigns and Punk, which could culminate in a ‘Custody of Paul Heyman’ match at SummerSlam 2025. Since the PLE is going two nights from this year, WWE would need a money match to fill up a 82,000-seater MetLife Stadium.
