Lewis Hamilton‘s move to Scuderia Ferrari this year was the biggest talking point in the F1 paddock. The seven-time world champion stole the spotlight during his first visit to Maranello. The Tifosi hoped to see Hamilton be the one who finally ended the title drought for the Scuderia. However, the results have not been expectations. With the 40-year-old being visibly unhappy during press conferences. Now, F1 Pundit Martin Brundle had admitted that this is certainly not a good sight.
In the first five rounds of 2025, Lewis Hamilton has only managed a single Sprint victory with no real chances of a race win. Moreover, the British driver has found it difficult to adapt to the different car settings at the Prancing Horse, having only raced Mercedes-powered cars in Formula 1 previously.
The Saudi Arabian GP was another tipping point for the seven-time world champion. Hamilton claimed that he might have a painful year for the entire season with no real hopes of improvement. These comments were harsh, but showed that the 40-year-old was struggling to stay motivated.
Martin Brundle insisted that Lewis Hamilton still did have the pace to fight at the front of the grid. Though, the 65-year-old claimed that it was becoming increasingly hard to watch his post-race discussions with the media. Brundle pointed out that Hamilton was really disappointed and confused over his lack of results at Ferrari and this was evident from his interviews.
The pace is in there somewhere but it’s a very hard watch when Lewis is doing post-race interviews at the moment. He’s not happy with his performances and is clearly more than a little perplexed and disappointed.

Hamilton’s struggles have not stayed hidden from anyone in the paddock. Former F1 driver Giedo van der Garde pinpointed the potential reasons behind the seven-time world champion’s struggles. As the 40-year-old tries to get back to his old form.

Van der Garde highlighted that Lewis Hamilton was now competing against a new generation of drivers, who drive differently than the ones in the past. The Dutchman hinted that the young drivers today are more willing to race aggressively than their predecessors.
He’s facing a different generation now… They just drive differently, a bit rounder and can deal with a loose rear end a bit easier.

Moreover, Giedo van der Garde pinpointed that Hamilton was getting older. He even claimed that the British driver felt a massive blow when he lost the 2021 title to Max Verstappen during the infamous Abu Dhabi GP.
He’s getting older and also took a hit when he didn’t manage to take that eighth World title.
Giedo van der Garde added
Reflecting upon the current state of Hamilton’s campaign, van der Garde asserted that the seven-time world champion was in a bad situation, where he had completely lost his confidence. So much so, that the Dutchman was confident that Lewis Hamilton cannot fix this himself.
I think he doesn’t know what left and right is anymore. He has no confidence. The gap is far too big.” “This is really bad. He cannot solve it himself. That’s completely gone.
Giedo van der Garde told Viaplay
Certainly, the seven-time world champion needs to bounce back as soon as possible. Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari move was meant to bring back his old form. However, it seems that it has only increased the problems for the British driver. The Tifosi would hope that Hamilton can rediscover his mojo once again in the coming weeks.
