Shedeur Sanders did not expect his possible entry to the NFL to go this way. The Colorado Buffaloes star quarterback was touted to be a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. But now he is staring at obscurity as teams avoid picking up after three full rounds of options.

His alleged arrogant and entitled approach to draft meetings set alarm bells ringing, and soon mock drafts projected Shedeur Sanders to slide down to the 21st position, where the Pittsburgh Steelers could have drafted him. Mike Tomlin is a close friend of his father, Deion Sanders. Along with their lackluster QB room, the odds seemed right.

But the Steelers opted to pass on the 23-year-old to draft positions of need. In both the first and the second round, they had the opportunity to pick the quarterback and strengthen a glaring position of need, but preferred to fill other spots.

The Cleveland Browns had five picks in the first three rounds, but decided not to draft Sanders. Even the Las Vegas Raiders, who once were heavily touted to draft the Texas native, did not use either of their five picks on him. Watching this unfold, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes tweeted this.

Crazy.

Patrick Mahomes wrote

His one-word tweet was enough to go viral and be viewed more than three million times. All of his followers and fans knew what Mahomes was referring to, even though he did not spell it out. He was surprised by how all the teams just decided to avoid controversy and went with safer bets.

Deion Sanders’ friend and loyal supporter, Skip Bayless, goes on a tirade

When those rumors of Shedeur Sanders’ entitled attitude started surfacing, many felt NFL team executives were intentionally doing this to try and give it back to his father, Deion Sanders. Fans and some media members believed league executives were annoyed with him for claiming to use his power to dictate where his son plays. Skip Bayless believes this was disgusting on the part of league execs.

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO SHEDEUR SANDERS IS THE MOST STUNNING AND DISGUSTING DEVELOPMENT IN NFL DRAFT HISTORY. HE SHOULD’VE GONE 1ST OVERALL. MEL KIPER RANKED HIM 5TH, ABOVE CAM WARD AT 6TH.

Skip Bayless wrote

The longtime journalist might have said this out of his friendship and support for Deion Sanders. But to the eyes of any football fan, his words did not seem biased. The Colorado QB was supposed to go in the first round.

No team picking him after three rounds despite having enough draft capital indicates that they might be intentionally ignoring him. They might have their reasons, but Bayless believes it is disgusting on the part of team execs in what could be a battle for power.

Former player believes fans enjoying Shedeur Sanders’ fall are weird

This fall down the draft board has been the most stunning development of the 2025 NFL Draft. Team executives might be behind this situation, but social media is divided. Former NFL star Emmanuel Acho believes fans are weird to enjoy another man’s fall.

Thinking Shedeur Sanders should not be a first round pick is no crime, but celebrating him falling in the draft is just weird, very weird behavior.

Emmanuel Acho wrote

The host of FS1’s The Facility understands that many might think that Shedeur Sanders is not a first-round caliber player. However, many fans are celebrating the fall of this young man’s future. That is weird to him as it shows what the nature of those people is who want others to fail.
