Joey Logano found himself in a midst of controversy following the Talladega Cup race over his radio meltdown. He went on a profanity laced radio rant targeting his teammate and eventual race winner Austin Cindric for costing him the stage-2 win. Many in the racing community came out calling out the three times champion and MLB Hall of Famer Chipper Jones’ was one of them.

Chipper Jones went on social media and called out Joey Logano for being a bad teammate which resulted in the reigning Cup champion returning the favor. Austin Cindric shared his feelings seeing the social media banter on his appearance in the Dale Jr. Download podcast and admitted that the drama was entertaining.

I did. That’s been fairly entertaining, to be honest. I don’t follow baseball much, but I would say I’m a very casual Braves fan. I do have a Braves hat in my truck, but it’s not something I wore into the meeting yesterday, by any means. The thought crossed my mind, but it was not the right moment. It was cool though.

The passionate rant online also proved that Jones is a passionate NASCAR fan, who isn’t afraid to share his opinion on things and Austin Cindric was surprised to discover that, as involvement of such a celebrity is good for the spot. At the same time, he doesn’t appreciate the noise it created regarding Joey Logano.

I didn’t know that he was such a big race fan. I triple checked it. I love that (he’s a big race fan). I mean the comments and all that, wow, yeah, but like, just the passion, he’s a NASCAR fan, clearly. If you’re that engaged with the race, it’s only good for our sport, from that standpoint. So, I love the support. But yeah, the rest of it is a bit noisy.

Austin Cindric has cleared the air with Joey Logano over the dramatic incident

In the same conversation, Cindric revealed the conversation they have had after the incident. Cindric being someone who doesn’t take things personally and understands his teammate Logano better. They have had a conversation after the race regarding the drama and cleared the air on the topic.

I don’t really take that overly personal. Joey and I know each other really well and we’ve been teammates for a while now. I like to think of that he’s just a bit Italian and that’s where that comes from. We talked about it yesterday, talked about it as a team and cleared the air on some topics.

The comments from the three times race winner shows at the moment, the radio rant hasn’t affected their team dynamic and there are approaching it professionally. Cindric wins on Sunday might help Logano get back to winning ways, as he continues the championship defense.
