Just as it has become an annual tradition post-WrestleMania, the latest round of WWE releases saw many wrestlers across the main roster and NXT get cut. The most notable was Braun Strowman, and he’s pondering retirement. The 41-year-old posted a picturesque water body on his X account. It appears to have been taken from the cruise he was on.

The photo was captioned as, “I might just retire here!!!!!” Strowman was called back by WWE in September 2022, shortly after Paul “Triple H” Levesque superseded Vince McMahon as the Chief Content Officer. Even though The Monster of All Monsters couldn’t get his hands on championship gold in the meantime, Strowman did certainly put over the next crop of so-called WWE monsters.

Take, for instance, the best he’d looked on television in his second stint with WWE was when this One Big S.O.B. feuded with “Big” Bronson Reed last year. They would often go ballistic seeing each other, and the beef eventually culminated in a Last Man Standing match. The ending was a bit goofy with the partial ring break, and WWE was internally unhappy about the spot.

Another major assignment that The Monster embarked on was to lend some more credence to Jacob Fatu. In January, they collided at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Back then, The Samoan Werewolf annihilated the former Universal Champion.

They continue breathing down on each other’s neck for the months to come. Fatu denied Strowman his WrestleMania dreams by beating him fair and square in a No. 1 contenders match for the US title to head to Las Vegas and eventually dethrone LA Knight.

Who else has been released by WWE?

Out of the axed names, not everyone was as recognizable as Braun Strowman. Nonetheless, in another stupefying call, Dakota Kai has also been cut. She recently posted on X that she wasn’t injured amid growing speculation about her absence.

Others who were released or whose contracts weren’t renewed by WWE include Kayden Carter & Katana Chance, Shayna Baszler, Gigi Dolin, Cora Jade, Eddy Thorpe, Riley Osbourne, Jakara Jackson, Gallus, Oro Mensah, Javier Bernal, Dani Palmer, and Shotzi.

Fightful Select reports that Kai, whose release has only enraged the WWE Universe, is expected to receive multiple offers from other companies. She was associated with Damage CTRL for her entire main roster run in the company.

The Kiwi wrestler formed an unholy alliance with Bayley and IYO SKY, which was the OG version of Damage CTRL. Speaking of which, Bayley, the faction’s ex-lead, sent a heartfelt message to Kai upon her unceremonious WWE departure. The Role Model posted numerous pictures with King Kota from their time together.

CM Punk’s message to Cora Jade after her WWE release

Another significant name who got released and has received the backing of many, including CM Punk, is none other than Cora Jade. The Best in the World left a comment on Jade’s Instagram post where she detailed her journey of pursuing pro wrestling after dropping out of high school.

The 24-year-old said that she met some of the most important people in her life along the way whom she knows would always have her back. It’s a well-known fact that she’s been a lifelong CM Punk fangirl. The Best in the World called her a dream chaser and asked his fellow Chicagoan to excel in wherever she goes next.

Jade’s non-compete clause will last for a month. It’d be interesting to see where she’d land next with AEW as an obvious alternative. The Resident Mean Girl was also working with TNA Wrestling as part of NXT’s working ties with them.
