WWE unhappy with “MAJOR SPOT” on Raw not coming off as big as the company had expected: Reports
The closing to Raw this past Monday was chaotic, to say the least. But it seems like WWE wasn't pleased with a flashy spot in the main event.

One of the moot points coming out of this week’s Raw was the expected yet feeble ring collapse in the main event. The structure couldn’t withstand the impact of “Big” Bronson Reed superplexing Braun Strowman. Just as these behemoths landed on the canvas, the turnbuckles came off and the ring caved in, not to the extent the fans would’ve envisioned, even those at WWE.
The company is reportedly unhappy with how the ring collapse looked on TV, per WrestleVotes via SK Wrestling. Apart from that, both Strowman and Reed received internal praise for their brutal Last Monster Standing match. Fans too think likewise. In fact, the instant reaction to the spot where the ring stumbled was harsh. The netizens adjudged it to be the weakest ever ring break.
There have been previous versions of that spot that did justice to its name. For instance, Braun Strowman did one with The Big Show back in 2017 on Raw. The latter was also involved in the same cause in the early 2000s with Brock Lesnar, where they gave birth to this very concept of a ring collapse in WWE.
Nonetheless, albeit its latest rendition featuring Braun and Reed wasn’t the best; it couldn’t take away what these forces of nature did to each other prior to that. Moreover, Seth Rollins came sprinting down that aisle during the dying moments to stomp Bronson Reed‘s head into the steel steps.
As a result, he failed to get back to a vertical base, while Strowman just made the count to be declared as the winner. After the show, Seth and Braun embraced. But in distressing news, The Monster of All Monsters suffered a torn groin, per Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
WWE confirmed Ilja Dragunov’s unfortunate injury on this week’s Raw
In another sad tidbit from Raw, Ilja Dragunov was announced to have torn his ACL last weekend at a live event. He wrestled longtime rival Gunther and was injured during the course of it. Ilja will be out of action for 6–9 months, per WWE.
Reacting to it, The Ring General doubled down on The Mad Dragon, saying weak things break. These proverbial wrestling soulmates go back a long time. Dragunov was the one who ended the erstwhile Walter’s 870-day NXT UK title reign.
Fans have had their hopes pinned on their rematch on the main roster now that they were on the same brand. However, Ilja’s injury couldn’t have gripped him at a worse time. By the looks of it, he’s expected to miss next year’s WrestleMania as well.
