Team Penske Racing’s reigning Cup Series champion Joey Logano has gone from the villain to hero in a span of seven days, owing to his actions on the track. He found himself in the midst controversy, after he went on a radio rant at his teammate Austin Cindric after losing a stage at Talladega and he was widely criticized for his word choices as well as supposedly uncalled for comments.

The online drama even saw baseball Hall of Famer Chipper Jones getting involved as he called Joey Logano out for being selfish. The No:22 Penske diver didn’t hold back and gave the perfect reply. This Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway, he took the perfect revenge against Jones, as he won the race despite getting involved in some wild moments, owing to his solid performance.

The baseball legend was impressed with the driver and put his pride on the side to appreciate the solid performance he witnessed. He called Joey Logano a future Hall of Famer, something no real NASCAR fan can disagree with, and congratulated him for the victory. Jones also exclaimed that this is the kind of performance that is expected of the three times champion.

Congratulations to Joey Logano. A HOF driver with a masterful win. This is what NASCAR fans expect from you. Hard charging wins and gracious top 5s and 10s. Well done!

Some fans weren’t ready to buy the comments from Chipper Jones, as they saw this as backpaddling after the backlash over his Talladega comments. Jones quickly put these comments on their place, highlighting he is just appreciating the solid run and asserted that Hall of Fame driers like Logano will always be judged with a higher standard.

Backpedaling? No. Appreciating a great race and sportsmanship. HOFers are always held to a higher standard and should be.

Chipper Jones responded to a fan.

The win is special for Joey Logano’s decade long sponsor

In his post-race interview Joey Logano shared his emotions about the victory and declared that he seems it as a crazy roller coaster ride. He then highlighted how he is proud of the No:22 team, as they helped him get his long-time sponsor to get on the victory lane.

AAA Insurance has been one of the significant partners of Team Penske Racing for over the last 14 years, funding Joey Logano’s team as a primary sponsor. Despite winning 36 races, before Texas, none of them were with the AAA paint scheme. So finally having the moment is special for them.

The sport changes so quickly. It is crazy how you can just ride these roller coasters. I am so proud of the team. Proud to finally get AAA Insurance into victory lane. They have been a partner of mine since I have been at Penske, so 13 or 14 years and we have yet to win with them so it was awesome to get that done here.

Joey Logano said after the race.

The comments from Joey Logano shows real excitement and gratitude to the partners that has backed him, despite his failure get them the ultimate prize. It would be interesting to see how many more races he can win with AAA Insurance paint scheme.
