The Pivot podcast pulled off something remarkable once again. On the Mother’s Day episode, Ryan Clark and Co. set up an interview with the most talked-about mom currently in the NFL, whose last name isn’t Kelce. Clark invited Regina Jackson, the thought-provoking mother/guardian of Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.
While Daniels took the NFL by storm with his flair and flashy playstyle last season, Jackson made headlines off it. Fans began to view her as a hovering mother who keeps her son within the boundaries of her eyes.
Jackson has her reasons. Being the mother of a star athlete isn’t a walk in the park, especially when he’s in danger of attracting bad eggs under the guise of potential ‘suitors’. She doesn’t want Daniels to be part of the long queue of NFL players with scandalous affairs and legal battles involving alimony.
This does not mean that Jackson is against Daniels dating someone.
I want Jayden [Daniels] to date; I’m putting it on record. My son can date, he can live freely, [and] make his own decisions. However, with the relationship we have, he does value my opinion because when my kids were little, I did a lot for them.
Regina Jackson said on the Pivot podcast
Jackson became familiar to every football fan after she appeared in Amazon’s The Money Game after the Commanders upset the NFC first seed Detroit Lions in the divisional round, 45-31. She declared that ‘girls’ or ‘romantic relationships’ above all else would be the biggest threat to her son’s NFL career.
My son is 24, and he is going to have to learn some things and go through some things on his own. He’s a great kid; I’m thankful for him… I’m trying to help him in his life after sports, because at some point it does end.

Regina Jackson clarified her stance on protecting her son from ‘girls’
Clark switched gears and reminded Jackson of recent history. On one night, she was seen accompanying Daniels on a date, and then another day, she stood between her son and USC basketball star JuJu Watkins.

While one section of the social media praised Jackson for keeping a stern eye on the Heisman Trophy winner, others criticized her for being too clingy. The backlash was loud on X, but it didn’t bother Jackson. Her response was simple: she will protect Daniels from girls who view him as a prize instead of a human being.
Your dollar amount is associated with your name, so you never know who really is there for you and who’s really against you.
Regina Jackson added
She once more highlighted that Daniels can freely live his life on his own terms, but her influence will never disappear. Jackson isn’t just his mother, she is also his de facto manager. She earned a degree in hospital management and later added a degree in entrepreneurial business to her file cabinet.
Jackson has enough experience to deduce that Daniels is on the path to becoming a superstar. Winning the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award is only the beginning. All the riches in the world are waiting for him in the future.
