Public opinion can put pressure on relationships, especially when one or both people are in the spotlight. Jordon Hudson and eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach Bill Belichick have faced challenges because of this.

The key factor behind the scrutinizing words and difficult media relationship is the age gap between the two. Belichick is over 70 while his girlfriend is just 24, meaning the famed coach has more than violated the “half-your-age-plus-seven” rule.

There’s a negative perception about the age gap difference relationship amongst the general public. The stigma centers around power imbalances and the chances of manipulation and financial and social control of their partner. The continued noise around the latter point has led to the most scrutiny over their relationship.

The CBS Mornings’ interview opened up a can of worms about how Hudson has been allegedly controlling Belichick’s life. The recent rumors speculated that the 24-year-old has been included in many of the professional matters of the coach who’s known for keeping strict fraternization boundaries.

In the Sunday episode of his namesake podcast, host Colin Cowherd addressed that the family is concerned about rumors revolving around the relationship.

In his monologue, Cowherd touched on the power imbalance and manipulation claims. He noted that there’s no power imbalance between the duo, that Belichick hasn’t fallen off the wagon, saying that Belichick is not chained to a basement, nor is Hudson spoonfeeding him.

Cowherd added that there’s much more in play than a relationship. Furthermore, he claimed that the Hudson and Belichick relationship is mutually symbiotic, with one getting the attention for a rebrand while the other builds a path upward.

This is a strategic alignment. She gets exposure, access, and a path upward. And I think they both actually love each other’s company. Bill gets relevance and energy and somebody who knows what TikTok is. In a world where attention is currency, she’s his social stock broker… so what if he’s pre-snap and she’s post-snapchat. It is working for them.

As a Gen Z gal, Hudson might have grown up watching Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf living it up in the world of glitz and glamor. As fans would love to debate over and over about the ending, there’s no question of what Dan Humphrey (Another ‘Gossip Girl’ series character) said in the end, “If I wasn’t born into this world, maybe I could write myself into it.” Hudson could be taking a leaf out of Humphrey’s playbook to become a part of the exclusive world of sports.

Age-gap relationships in the public eye are followed by the media like a moth to a flame. While Leonardo DiCaprio was let go with memes, Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are still haunted by questions. The case is the same for Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson, who allegedly met on a plane in 2021.

Amid the sea of scrutiny, very far and few have supported the duo, the Outkick being one of them. In the article penned by Zach Dean, the writer tore into national media houses for the treatment meted out to Belichick and, mostly, Hudson. He name-shamed Pablo Torre for his slanderous words about Hudson amid growing rumors of Hudson being banned from UNC.

He also expressed support for the two and cheered them on to go ahead with their lives.

If Bill wants to date a 24-year-old who was studying college algebra 18 months ago, I say go for it. If Jordon wants to spend her weekends at Bill’s house on Nantucket, soaking up the sun and enjoying Cisco Brewery on Bill’s dime, I say GO FOR IT.
