Despite a postseason miss in 2024, the San Francisco 49ers have committed to quarterback Brock Purdy with a landmark five-year, $265 million contract extension. With $181 million in guaranteed money, the extension positioned Purdy as the league’s fourth-highest-paid quarterback.
The deal cemented Purdy’s role as the San Francisco 49ers’ franchise quarterback following his rapid rise from the final pick in the NFL Draft. Purdy has exceeded all expectations since taking over under center for the 49ers, helping them reach the Super Bowl last season. In three seasons, he has recorded 722 completions from 1,069 attempts while passing for 9,518 yards and 64 touchdowns.
Speaking to reporters, the Arizona native expressed no plans for extravagant spending despite the magnitude of the contract. He revealed a childhood dream and proposed that he might chase the dream.
I was talking about maybe buying a bass fishing boat down the road. That’s something I’ve always wanted since I was a kid. You might see us fishing more often.

Brock Purdy, who’s a devout Christian, gained major traction with his comment. The comments underscored a grounded mindset amid financial windfall, with simplicity remaining a personal priority.
The 49ers’ offseason has been busy, with key personnel moves surrounding Purdy’s extension. Although initially, the Niners raised some eyebrows with the immense leakage of talent, including Deebo Samuel, they have ensured no drama. The team retained core veterans Fred Warner and George Kittle with contract extensions.

In a coincidental moment, a FaceTime call from general manager John Lynch, just as in 2022, delivered the good news. It was a quiet yet meaningful confirmation of his place as the signal-caller of the organization through the 2030 season.

Purdy revealed that he and his wife, Jenna Purdy nee Brandt, were golfing with teammate Jake Brendel and his wife at San Francisco’s Olympic Club when the news arrived. A message from his agent confirmed the deal was done, followed by Lynch’s congratulatory call.
Purdy and Brendel got together to enjoy a double date ahead of the team’s organized team activities set to begin May 27. Brendel’s wife, Zan Brendel, is a close confidante of Jenna Purdy. In December 2024, a photo of Jenna, Zan Brendel, and Wishnowski
The quarterback described the negotiation process as smooth and professional, built on mutual respect. He had already reported to the team’s offseason program on April 22, even before the deal was finalized. Purdy emphasized that he didn’t want negotiations to distract from his role.
I didn’t want to lose sight of the main goal here. I just wanted to be here from the jump and be the guy.
Brock Purdy told reporters
After a disappointing season, the 49ers are looking forward to bouncing back from the humiliation. The Niners were one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl before they crashed down. The roster was wrecked with injuries to key players like Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, and even Purdy at one point in the season.
Despite the same, Purdy recorded a 65.9 percent completion rate by setting his career-high pass attempts in a single season. He threw 20 touchdowns while passing for 3,864 yards. However, he had a tarnish in his name due to the 12 interceptions, a first for Purdy. With all these facts, it is not a question that Purdy needs to prove himself this season.
