There’s still uncertainty surrounding Tyreek Hill. The star wide receiver asked for a trade right after the Miami Dolphins’ 32-20 Week 18 loss to the New York Jets.

However, insider news speculated that Hill no longer desires to leave the Dolphins. In fact, the 31-year-old is preparing for the new season.

Robert Prince recently told the Miami Herald that Hill has been very helpful since becoming the new Dolphins receivers coach early this year.

He’s been here. And it’s been great. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with Tyreek, and he’s a great leader in the room.

Robert Prince said

This is welcoming news for the Dolphins fans. The Miami franchise requires veteran heads in the locker room, even though several NFL teams are looking to trade for the Super Bowl winner.

However, Tyreek Hill quashed all the rumors by setting his 2025 goals recently. While attending one of his summer training camps, Hill declared that he wants to cross 2000 yards.

I need 2k this year, I don’t care. That was the mindset before I got to Miami. We got off that.

It’s an unfinished goal that Hill set before the start of last season. Hill looked locked in after dropping 130 yards and a touchdown on opening day against the Jaguars. However, that was the first and the only time he crossed 100 yards in the entire campaign, ending with 959 yards from 81 catches.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion derailed the Dolphins’ year. They finished 8-9 and missed the playoffs. It was the first time in Hill’s NFL career that he didn’t play postseason football.

Tyreek Hill’s trade rumors

Even though Hill appears committed to the Dolphins’ cause, anything can happen before week one of football. It’s clear that Hill wants to add to his one ring, which he won with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Dolphins are a good team. A healthy Tagovailoa is a threat for any side. Hill amassed consecutive 1700+ yards’ seasons in the first two years in Miami.

However, the Dolphins trading Hill away to the right bidder remains a big possibility. Hill restructured his contract and is currently on a $30 million per year deal. General manager Chris Grier might attempt to get the extra money off the Dolphins’ cap.

CBS Sports analyst Tyler Sullivan highlighted that Hill might become a cap casualty unless the Dolphins improve their deal to keep him in South Beach.

If Miami decides to keep its star receiver, it’ll likely need to come to some sort of an extension. Hill is signed through the 2026 season but has no guaranteed money after this coming year. Even as he enters his age-31 season, Hill is still among the very best in the league at his position, so any sort of extension will be lucrative.

One team that might be interested is the Pittsburgh Steelers. The AFC North club has been busy in the offseason. They signed DK Metcalf from Seattle and then traded away George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys—a team that was linked with Hill before the trade.

The Steelers are currently busy wooing Aaron Rodgers to be their quarterback. If Rodgers pens a deal and Omar Khan trades for Hill, then the Steelers will instantly be viewed among the contenders for the AFC title and even the Super Bowl.
