Bill Simmons doesn’t like Pablo Torre’s borderline obsessive reporting on Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson. Simmons’ disgust with Torre reached a boiling point while ironically discussing the 1978 film, ‘Heaven Can Wait, during the May 27 episode of ‘The Rewatchables.’

The long-time football analyst found Torre’s reporting to be ‘stupid.’ He even called the former ESPN contributor “pretending to be a journalist” with his weekly segments on the UNC head coach’s ‘unique’ relationship with his 24-year-old girlfriend.

Simmons joked that Torre would dedicate a podcast to discussing Leo Farnsworth, a character from the famous Warren Beatty classic, “and then do a media tour about it afterwards.”

I’ve never seen anybody dine on a stupider story for a week and a half while pretending you’re a journalist. What the f**k was that? Seriously… [Bill] Belichick [is] dating a girl. ‘Oh, let me do nine shows about it. Settle the f**k down.

Bill Simmons called out Pablo Torre

Simmons’ segue into Belichick and Hudson’s story from chatting about a classic movie caught his co-hosts Chris Ryan and Van Lathan off guard. Lathan attempted to lighten the mood.

It was a story that everybody was talking about to be fair.

Lathan interjected

Not as much as Torre. He dove deep into finding every detail about Belichick’s love life with his former cheerleader girlfriend. He was among the first to break the news on Belichick’s rising tension with UNC surrounding Hudson’s presence on campus. The university reportedly took extreme measures but later denied all the rumors.

Pablo Torre responds to Bill Simmons’ criticism of his reporting on Belichick and Hudson

Simmons is a well-respected figure in the world of NFL media. People take notice when a senior individual like him calls out another one in the same field.

Torre’s way of covering Belichick’s private life may be a bit obsessive, but as Lathan mentioned, there is an audience for such content. Torre fired back at Simmons by using his words against him.

Since you have such a strong public opinion about my work… I happen to have a few questions for you, specifically. Unless you’re afraid of @pablofindsout and someone just ‘pretending to be a journalist,’ of course.

Torre’s foray into the colorful life of Belichick and Hudson began by breaking the BTS news of the now-infamous interview with Tony Dokoupil of CBS Mornings. According to eyewitness accounts, Hudson wasn’t very cooperative during the shooting and acted as an overseer instead of the one who was being interviewed.

The network denied Hudson overstepping her role, and the rumor about leaving early because she was unhappy with the questions. The damage was done regardless of what took place at the studio.

Hudson reportedly cost UNC the chance to appear on the new season of HBO’s Hard Knocks because she wanted to be part of the production team. She also piggybacked her way into Belichick’s Super Bowl commercial with Hollywood star Ben Affleck. Her slender figure, wearing an orange tracksuit, appeared in the commercial beside Belichick.

Torre even investigated Belichick’s famous ring camera video. He personally tracked down the Airbnb in Boston, where Belichick stayed with Hudson.
