Lando Norris has emerged as a title contender in Formula 1. Since last season, the British driver has found himself in a position to potentially win the world championship. Unfortunately, the 25-year-old is prone to making mistakes, which ruin his prospects. Now, F1 presenter Martin Brundle has urged Norris to learn from Max Verstappen.

The McLaren star is known for being too self critical, often cursing himself for his mistakes. At the Canadian GP, Lando Norris crashed into his teammate Oscar Piastri and had to retire from the race, a massive blunder from the Briton. Though, he immediately accepted the blame for the incident.

Martin Brundle asserted that if Lando Norris really wanted to win the title, he cannot let such errors happen. While the 25-year-old retired from the race, his teammate and championship-leader Piastri clinched fourth place, getting some crucial points. Brundle further stated that Norris needed to take a lesson from Max Verstappen‘s book and always bring his A-game to the track.

Lando won’t win a world championship unless he can stop these weekends happening. It’s as simple as that. He’s got to bring his A-game pretty much all the time, like Max [Verstappen] does.

Moreover, the F1 presenter did not hesitate from praising Piastri. Brundle reckoned that the Australian driver was simply much stronger and consistent in terms of performance compared to Norris this season. Oscar Piastri has won five races so far, compared to the Briton’s two victories.

Oscar’s much more solid in his delivery week in, week out, much more consistent.

Lando Norris not ruled out of 2025 F1 title race

With 10 races over, the championship is heating up in Formula 1. Oscar Piastri remains the favorite to clinch his maiden world title this year, with Lando Norris not so far behind. While Max Verstappen sits in third place. Norris’ rollercoaster performances have raised doubts over his capability to actually defeat the Australian driver this year. Though, it seems that the 25-year-old has not lost everything just yet.

Martin Brundle was dumbfounded to see Norris’ stark difference in performance over certain weekends. Sometimes, Norris truly dominates the grid, while on other occasions, the Briton commits silly errors which end up ruining his runs. Though, Brundle cited that there were still plenty of races remaining. Thus, the F1 presenter made it clear that the McLaren star could not be ruled out of the title race yet.

I find it really confusing, those two different levels of performance. He needs to park one and deliver the other one more often, but there’s a long way to go. It doesn’t mean he’s out of the championship at all.

Martin Brundle explained

Moreover, Brundle highlighted how the season had evolved for Norris since he won the season opener in Melbourne. Since the Australian GP, Lando Norris has fallen far behind Oscar Piastri in the standings.

But when you look at the turnaround in points from the advantage he came away from Melbourne with, to what he’s got now, it’s a 45-point swing in that time.

Martin Brundle noted

Certainly, Lando Norris still has everything to fight for in 2025. McLaren will allow its drivers to continue to race this year despite the incident at the Canadian GP. However, Norris cannot afford any such mistakes again, especially against his own teammate. With 14 races remaining, the 25-year-old has enough time to turn the tide and topple Piastri from the championship lead. McLaren fans would be hoping to find both their drivers fighting each other without any major incidents on-track in the coming weeks.
