Canelo Alvarez and stately dinner with Saudi GEA promoter before historic showdown catches strays from Jake Paul on it being staged and goofy.

Earlier this month, Saudi GEA boxing chief and power broker Turki Alalshikh named UFC’s Dana White as a media seer for Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford on September 13. All bells were rung when the UFC CEO no-showed the first media conference.

However, White was there to smooth it out and distance them during their face-to-face again in New York on Sunday. All that aside…the boxing clique and Jake Paul are unimpressed and not sold on the gravitas, seriousness, or spark of rivalry of this matchup.

A stately dinner with the Saudi GEA promoter, Canelo Alvarez, and Terence Crawford has added to the reasonable doubt on it. ‘Bud’ vs. Saul Alvarez was the go-to super fight on the wishlist for years. Obviously, Alalshikh has taken over and has Alvarez for a 4-fight Saudi GEA deal for the extended Riyadh Season. It has subtracted out Jake Paul from their previous deal.

Boxers/fighters are always known to behave when they have Saudi GEA or Abu Dhabi DTC sponsors overseeing. But the “Turki” intervention and a 4-fight plan are backfiring; boxing fans now think too much is being done, and the scripted rivalry between Canelo Alvarez and Crawford isn’t helping. Jake Paul, who had intentions to face Alvarez, fired back, too:

That’s some goofy sh*t. Imagine Messi and Ronaldo grabbing dinner before a legit match against each other. Goofy…

The Ohio prizefighter has his own pocket of anger when they could have money from a fight between them; while opposed to exhibitions, Alvarez allegedly gave his nod to the sum. Paul later tried to hook him by flashing his confidentiality agreement.

Meanwhile, Problem Child and ‘Bud’ Crawford are like-mindedly hesitant that Saudi GEA didactics have named White as media staredown mediator for TKO Boxing’s first boxing showcase at Allegiant Stadium, LV. White and his framework would provide six-figure KO bonuses, but his TKO-style $5,000 signing bonus/$50,000 (Rank 5-10), $125,000 (3-4) tiers, and UFC-style $750,000 champion payouts that this matchup would kick off did catch flak from Bud a while back.

It’s all a bit hotch-potch with boxing, seeing some listless events in the near past with top names. Take Canelo Alvarez headhunting William Scull for a lackluster affair, for example, that felt too scripted to hurry him on to a ‘Bud’ matchup. So while Jake Paul and his take on mainstream boxing usually gets flatlined, fans have called this a rare ‘win’ for the pugilist.

Change is tough, and the inclusion of White and TKO in boxing is a variable they don’t know yet. For his part, though, the UFC headman recently dumbed down and highly downplayed Paul as a legit threat once again.

Dana White shreds Jake Paul as threat, says he didn’t know his next fight clashed with UFC 317 PPV

UFC CEO Dana White and YouTuber-turned-prizefighter Jake Paul (now full pro) have had their friction for a while now. The Ohio boxer often criticizes the ever-dwindling pay-per-view setup and set-in-stone UFC $50K bonus. Paul, an emcee for Francis Ngannou’s PFL ‘Battle of the Giants’ pay-per-view, has often weighed in on his clash with White and how both of them are all but barred from doing business with Whtie and Co.

International Fight Week is often billed as the UFC’s ‘Super Bowl’, with the weekly festivities having UFC X experience and UFC HOF ceremony in tow. UFC 317 with Dana White’s two top superstars now caps off the affair. On the flip side, Jake Paul now faces Gen-2 legacy boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (54-6-1) on the same date in a showcase. White isn’t at all concerned about it.

I didn’t even f*cking know that …I didn’t even know he was fighting so that’s how concerned I am about it…[this] sh*t show…

Dana White during New York City “Canelo vs. Crawford” launch media presser

Dana Whtie and Problem Child have had a long list of scuffles. Starting from his competition ceiling of MMA washouts from UFC to his battering an immobile Mike Tyson in a matchup that headlined MVP’s Netflix-theme fight. However, White assured he is not the least bit concerned about Paul’s upcoming fight, in any form or shape. For now, Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are all he cares about.
