Josh Allen has given football fans plenty of highlight reels for a lifetime. Allen upped his game even further in 2024 and took home the season MVP title.
Even though Allen won the voting by a decent margin, a section of football fans still vouch that the Ravens’ Lamar Jackson deserved it more than the Bills’ quarterback. That debate will most likely trudge on a bit longer.
Former NFL wide receiver James Jones was in Allen’s corner for the MVP voting, similar to his FS1 colleague Emmanuel Acho. Jones argued that if Allen wins a Super Bowl and another MVP, he will cement his place in the top 10 quarterback list in NFL history.
Watching Josh Allen with my two eyeballs, if Josh Allen wins a Super Bowl, which means he has a Super Bowl and MVP, Josh Allen will be a top 10 quarterback of all time.
James Jones said in the latest segment of The Facility
As a Super Bowl champion who played alongside Aaron Rodgers, he’s put together a list of the greatest quarterbacks. He swapped out Saints’ legend Drew Brees for Allen (hypothetically).
Jones knows this move will rile up a lot of fans, but at the same time, he pointed out that Allen’s approach to football is far more advanced than that of former 49er Steve Young or Miami Dolphin Dan Marino. This allows him to surpass all of those great quarterbacks.
Somebody has to come out of the top 10. If you watch Josh Allen play the game of football, we have never really seen this… His running… Josh is too special to not be in the top 10. Josh is one of the most talented quarterbacks we have ever seen, with an MVP, and now you add it with a Super Bowl at 29 years old—there aren’t too many quarterbacks that we have seen that are better than Josh Allen.
James Jones added
“If Josh Allen wins a Super Bowl, he will be a Top 10 QB of All-Time.”

The analysts at Pro Football Focus say otherwise. In their latest quarterback rankings, they placed Allen at four, behind Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Jackson.
[Josh] Allen’s 95.4 overall grade over the past three seasons ranks first among all quarterbacks. His 91.4 passing grade in that span is third, behind Burrow and Lamar Jackson. Despite losing his top two receivers from 2023, Allen didn’t miss a beat in 2024, delivering his most complete season yet and earning his first MVP award.

Former Bengals wide receiver TJ Houshmandzadeh sat on the far side of the same table as Jones when Acho asked him what a Super Bowl win means for Allen’s career.

[Josh Allen] would be on the precipice of being one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play. [However], he would need to win two [Super Bowls to be in the conversation].

Schedule makers definitely wanted another showdown between Allen and Jackson. These two will face each other in week one of the new season. Jackson has the edge over Allen in head-to-head (5-3, including playoff wins).
As per FOX Sports, both Jackson and Allen have equal odds of winning the 2025-26 NFL MVP title with +550.
