Now, Hamilton has highlighted that he understands what Norris and Piastri are facing this season.

The 2025 season is crucial for both McLaren drivers. Lando Norris hopes to finally claim his maiden world title after losing the championship fight to Max Verstappen last season. So far, the Australian driver has got the upper hand, with five victories to his name. While Norris has struggled to get up to speed, and been much more prone to mistakes.

Lewis Hamilton, who won his maiden world title with McLaren during his second season in F1, sympathizes with the two. The seven-time world champion asserted that the pressure on Norris and Piastri was immense, something that no one could imagine unless they were in their place.

Oscar Piastri has turned out to be the standout driver of this season. The 24-year-old has defied expectations, with his impressive performances. The seven-time world champion claimed that Oscar Piastri was doing a phenomenal job every weekend for McLaren. Lewis Hamilton reckoned that this was exactly what the 24-year-old needed to do to become world champion. The F1 veteran revealed that though he has not known Piastri for very long, the two often find time for some small talk in driver parades every once in a while. Hamilton insisted that the Australian was a really approachable and polite personality.

We’ve seen both, and obviously, particularly Oscar, doing a great, great job weekend in, weekend out, delivering, qualifying, and everything you need to do to win a World Championship. I don’t know him a huge amount. We sometimes talk a little bit on the parades, but he’s always been very easy to approach, easy to speak to. He’s clearly a nice lad.

Lewis Hamilton explained

Certainly, pressure is on Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in this year’s Championship fight as they go up against one another. Though, it is the latter who has managed to keep things under control with a string of good results. On the other hand, Norris continues to struggle, with cracks already surfacing in his campaign. The 25-year-old must bounce back in the next couple of races if he wants to have a realistic chance of defeating his teammate.
