Lando Norris is a man on a mission this weekend at the Austrian GP. After a rough couple of races, the British driver is in dire need of getting back to winning ways. The McLaren star has managed to put himself at the right place for Sunday after taking pole position in Qualifying. However, Norris understands that things will not be easy.
Qualifying at the Red Bull Ring was an exciting affair. Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari seemed quick throughout the session, putting forth a challenge to Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. On the other hand, Max Verstappen and Red Bull were facing issues, which essentially ruled the Dutchman out of the fight for pole.
Lando Norris was on provisional pole with just two minutes remaining. The McLaren star did get lucky after yellow flags forced Verstappen and Piastri to abandon their final runs in the session. Nevertheless, the Briton had put in a stellar lap time in the beginning of the session, allowing him to take pole.
After the session, Norris confessed that he was glad to have secured pole for the race. The McLaren driver hoped to carry forward this momentum on Sunday. However, the 25-year-old pointed out that there were still plenty of races to go. The Briton was happy to cherish this moment, while remaining cautious over his prospects in the main race.
Very happy, a good day, a good weekend for me so hopefully I can keep it up… It is a long season. I savour this moment, it is pleasing for myself but it is a long race tomorrow.

Lando Norris teases more pace at Austrian GP
The British driver did manage a great lap time at the Red Bull Ring, surprising the crowd in attendance. Lando Norris needed such a standout performance to reestablish himself after the Canadian GP fiasco with Piastri. While the 25-year-old did do everything needed to start from pole for tomorrow, there might be a couple of areas left for improvement.

Norris revealed that he made some small improvements throughout the course of Qualifying. While the McLaren driver was happy with his Q3 run, he admitted that there were some areas where he could’ve gone even faster. This might ring alarm bells for rivals as the Briton teases more pace for the Sunday race.
It was a good lap, that’s for sure. It was just little bit by little bit, my Q3 run one was good but I knew there were some little places to improve.

Norris is the favorite to win the Austrian GP on Sunday. The 25-year-old seems to be in sync with the car this weekend, even having an upper hand against his teammate Oscar Piastri. With the McLaren driver having two wins so far, compared to Piastri’s five, the Briton will push himself to the limit to stand on the top step of the podium for the third time this season.
