Joe Gibbs Racing star driver Christopher Bell has yet again found himself in a complicated championship battle, starting with the R-16 opener at Darlington. He started the season strong with three back-to-back wins, Atlanta, COTA and phoenix. But sins then have been winless and failed to match the early peak he has had.
In the last ten races of the regular season, Christopher Bell secured just three top 5 finishes, with all but two of the remaining finishes being outside top 15. This drops in performance cost him the regular season championship, against William Byron. Regardless, with 29 bonus points to his name and playoff having races where he was strong, the No:20 Toyota driver has a lot of confidence.
Talking about his chances in the last ten races of the season, he pointed out that it featuring races in Darlington, Kansas, Vegas and Gateway give him an edge as he has been solid in these tracks, with only bad luck costing him shots at win. He believes the maiden wins in these tracks will be coming sooner than later.
We’ve been really close at Darlington but haven’t won yet. The playoffs are littered with tracks like that — Darlington, Kansas, Vegas and Gateway. All these places where we’ve been super strong but just haven’t won. It could happen this week and it could happen next week.
Christopher Bell said via Motorsport.com.
If he can secure these clutch wins by delivering on the promises, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver has pointed out that 2025 will be his best year to win the title. It not just the driver that is saying that, as the No:20 teams crew chief Adam Steven has the similar feelings. The TRD racer is determined to get the team their first title since 2019.
This year is my best year for a championship. I know that. Adam knows that. I’m ready to take it to him.
Christopher Bell added.
Christopher Bell has everything he needs to win the championship
In the same interview, Bell shared the discussion he has had with his crew chief towards the end of the regular season over his drop in results. He reminded the racer that they are doing everything possible to get a better result and hasn’t made any changes regarding how the are racing from the compared start of the season when they were dominating.

I’ve actually asked Adam that because I got a little bit concerned about it a couple weeks ago. He said, ‘look, we are not doing anything different than when we won three races in a row earlier in the season.’
Christopher Bell said.
Further talking about the point, Bell admitted that they have a good team, and knows how to produce good result in the tracks that are coming their way. They have the resources and now its up them, to use it execute, and produce wins.
We have a great team; a great process and we’re going to keep after it and have some great racetracks for us. I think we have all the tools we need to go out there, execute and win races, and hopefully we can do that.
Christopher Bell added.
The comments from the star driver shows he understand the solid situation he is in as well as the pressure that is on his shoulder to deliver. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the No:20 team at Darlington and the coming races.
