With one more week remaining in the 2025 NFL regular season, all eyes will be on the Week 18 showdown between Aaron Rodgers‘ Pittsburgh Steelers and Lamar Jackson‘s Baltimore Ravens.
The inter-division game will determine who wins the AFC North, which will go a long way to reveal the path they will take when the postseason games begin.
Win, and the Pennsylvania-based team can enjoy a Wild Card round battle. Lose, and they can pack their bags as they will finish outside the playoff spots, as the Ravens will hold the division record.
They could have cemented their spot last week. However, they underestimated what Shedeur Sanders and his Cleveland Browns could do if their game plan worked to their advantage.
As he is about to face a win-or-go-home game, reporters at the Steelers’ facilities asked Aaron Rodgers about his future, as there is a chance his season could end in a few days.
I’m thinking about this week. But, obviously, I’m 42, and I’m on a 1-year deal. You know what the situation is. Whenever the season ends, I’ll be a free agent. That’ll give me a lot of options if I still want to play — Not a lot of options, but … I would think maybe 1 or 2 if I decide I still want to play.
Aaron Rodgers replied

The four-time league MVP was candid in saying that if his team loses this week, his future will be up in the air. He knows he will only get a couple of options at most. If they interest him in continuing to play, he will.
Aaron Rodgers thankful for his time in Pittsburgh
Aaron Rodgers knows his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers could either be prolonged after Week 18 or come to a grinding halt with him contemplating his future. When asked how his experience was so far, the 42-year-old said:

All those things have exceeded expectations… I feel like there would be a little hole in my life missing without having this chapter. So I’m thankful for this time.
Aaron Rodgers said
He referenced how he has enjoyed Mike Tomlin‘s leadership and how he has met quite a few ‘high character’ personalities during his time here.
The QB also reiterated that he was happy playing under Arthur Smith‘s system, and acknowledged how the franchise as a whole has helped him have a great year.

For someone who saw his opportunities dwindle during this past offseason, he was thankful that he had this experience. If anything, this could tempt him to return if the Steelers want him back.
Aaron Rodgers indicates he could be back with Steelers
If the Pittsburgh Steelers do make it to the playoffs, Aaron Rodgers will play in his first postseason game in more than four years. When asked if he could perform to what he had hoped from this team, the quarterback said:
Anytime you’re in a first-year offense, there’s always some growing pains within the offense. You always feel like if you had another year, what you could do.
Aaron Rodgers replied
The California native referenced his time with the Green Bay Packers to illustrate how continuity can help an offensive unit grow together and play better over time.

He reiterated that he is content with the way he and his Steelers teammates have played, given the fact that the unit has had quite the personnel turnover over the years.
However, his mentioning continuity could indicate that Rodgers could be open to returning next season if the Pittsburgh Steelers want him back. After all, most of the core will stay the same, allowing them to explore more complex plays.
