Gunther has already built a reputation as WWE’s “Career Killer,” retiring legendary names like AJ Styles, John Cena, and Goldberg. The Ring General’s ruthless dominance has cemented him at the top of the company, and he is now locked in a heated Undisputed WWE Championship feud with Cody Rhodes.
While the Austrian has already shattered the hearts of countless WWE fans by ending the careers of some of their favorites, it appears his list is far from complete. Speaking on the Main Event Club podcast, the reigning powerhouse discussed his upcoming clash with Rhodes and was asked about other stars he would like to retire.
Sheamus, Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, and more in Gunther’s top 5 list
The former World Heavyweight Champion named some of the all-time greats in his top 5 list in order: Sheamus, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, and CM Punk.

Discussing his first two choices, Gunther explained why he would love to face Lesnar and Sheamus in retirement matches. Speaking about his long-standing rivalry with Sheamus, Gunther said, “On the main roster, Sheamus was my first big opponent, and he beat me up a lot. He made me earn it. I hope I can kick him on the way out.”
While Gunther has personal reasons for wanting to retire Sheamus, he also shares recent history with Punk and Orton following their World Heavyweight Championship rivalries over the past few years. As for Mysterio, reports previously suggested Gunther was scheduled to retire the veteran at WrestleMania 42 before the match was scrapped due to Mysterio suffering an injury.
Gunther goes to war with Cody Rhodes at Clash In Italy
Making his blue brand return on a high note, Gunther attacked Cody Rhodes from behind, hence challenging him to a WWE title match at Clash In Italy. Their rivalry might be a bit lacklustre for most fans, given how repetitive their segments have been, but expectations are that their match could steal the show.

Their rivalry also included Royce Keys in the mix, who was about to sign the contract to face Rhodes for the title, but was attacked by Gunther. As the Austrian aims to reclaim the top spot in the business, it remains to be seen whether he will capture the gold in Italy.
