The Chicago Bears fans are going to be thrilled to hear what Caleb Williams just predicted about his future. Entering his third year, Williams is eyeing a 99 rating on Madden.

During Wednesday’s episode of the New Heights podcast, hosts Travis and Jason Kelce asked Williams whether he knew his rating on Madden 27. Williams revealed that he didn’t.

I don’t know the rating. Hopefully, it’s a 99… and then I get some other ratings. I got some work to do then [if he’s not a 99]. I’m trying to get up there with Mr. Golden Cleats [Travis Kelce].

After that, Jason Kelce named the top ratings. EA gave Williams a 90 rating. The 24-year-old didn’t seem satisfied with the number.

The end of the year, it’ll be a 99. You gotta update them.

Williams announced

Williams is talented enough to earn the coveted 99 rating. He just needs to keep delivering wins for the Bears and win the NFC North in consecutive years for the first time since the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

On Wednesday, EA declared Williams as the cover athlete of Madden 27. For the cover pose, the company recreated Williams’ Michael Jordan-esque touchdown silhouette from last year.

Williams becomes the 11th quarterback to grace the cover of a Madden game. However, he’s the Bears player to receive the honor since its inception in 1988.

Obviously a childhood dream. My game is right here. I love games, it’s something I do just to go home and sit down and relax and not worry about anything and still get to compete. Childhood dream, man.

Williams said (H/T Bears official website)

Williams cited former NFL QB Michael Vick as one of his favorite cover athletes of all time. He views it as another trophy on his CV.

Being able to put it right up next to all of the cool trophies I have and accolades I have. Dream come true. And they’ve never had two back-to-back. So, let’s see if I can go and make it back-to-back this year.

Patrick Mahomes is the most recent player to be featured on the cover twice. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was on the cover of Madden 22 alongside Tom Brady. Williams must have an incredible year to go back-to-back.

How did Ben Johnson react to Caleb Williams becoming the cover athlete for Madden 27?

After Williams was unveiled as the cover athlete for Madden 27, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reached out to Bears head coach Ben Johnson for reaction. He received crickets.

While being on the cover is a great honor, it comes with a lot of pressure to prove he deserves it. That’s not even the nasty part. Apparently, bad luck befalls players selected as cover athletes. And there’s sufficient evidence to back up the claims.

San Francisco 49ers All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey has suffered multiple serious knee injuries following his appearance on the cover of Madden 25. After becoming the cover athlete of Madden 2007, legendary RB Shaun Alexander fractured his foot, missed six games, and never rushed for more than 1,000 yards in a season again.

Of course, it’s not a plot of Final Fantasy that players are guaranteed to experience terrible luck. Some manage to shake the curse of. Mahomes won a Super Bowl after featuring on the cover, and former Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson capped off a great NFL career with a Hall of Fame induction.

Johnson and the Bears fans will be praying for the latter to happen with Williams. The USC alum boasts a 16-18 record after two years in Chicago. He registered 681 completions for 7483 yards, 47 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
