The New York Knicks lost Game 3 of the NBA Finals, and Stephen A. Smith had earlier mentioned that Donald Trump would be to blame if his hometown team struggled against the San Antonio Spurs.

The ESPN analyst had initially begged the President not to attend. He stated that the chaos that would ensue due to the restrictions law enforcement would have to enforce would be a distraction.

Some, and even the White House, countered Smith and any other critics by citing how Trump was merely visiting the team he had supported throughout his life as a basketball fan.

Once it was confirmed, the 58-year-old upped the ante and labeled the most powerful man in the world ‘selfish’ for arriving at Madison Square Garden.

After the Knicks lost, Trump was asked about Smith blaming him for it. To that, he took a shot at his fellow Queens native’s ‘lack of aptitude,’ and IQ to be in the running for President. Surely, this would come to Stephen A. Smith’s attention.

You wanna talk about IQ, I could say I put my IQ against yours… I could go one better. I could ask you why you’ve been running from me for the last year, since I wanted to talk to you. I could ask you to debate me, since you think you’re that dude.

Stephen A. Smith said

The ESPN executive producer appreciated the President for labeling him as a ‘nice guy.’ But then went on to suggest that once he dives into his ‘other’ side, he may not be as nice. To him, it made no sense to take a shot at his IQ, which Smith believes is very good.

Stephen A. Smith continues to attack Donald Trump

To those who are not aware of their past, Donald Trump has generally been good to Stephen A. Smith. The former discussed his plans to run for President before his first tenure.

Last year, the 79-year-old almost endorsed the former Philadelphia Inquirer journalist to run for President in 2028. But now, it seems Smith’s blaming him for the Knicks’ loss drew that response. But so was the First Take host ready with some barbs.

The brother wasn’t awake… If it was that important for you to be there, why did you look like you were asleep? Didn’t you call out former President Joe Biden, ‘Sleepy Joe’? Well, what should we call you?

Stephen A. Smith said

This was a direct shot at Trump for falling asleep while the New York Knicks were battling against the San Antonio Spurs. Smith wondered why the President, who claims to be a die-hard fan of the Knicks, would sleep on them in their first Finals game in nearly three decades.

If the team mattered to him that much, the father of two believes the POTUS would have stayed upright and rooted for them. He does not expect a man that old to cheer like other Knicks fans, but sleeping through the game was a disaster.

Stephen A. Smith doubles down on accusations of Donald Trump being selfish

Stephen A. Smith, using First Take to talk about Donald Trump, and whatever transpired was not the first time the analyst used his platform to take a direct shot at the President. But this time, the Knicks were involved.

You turned your back on them. That’s what you did for your own selfish, narcissistic motives. I told you that if you showed up, what could potentially happen. It ended up happening… You got in the way.

Smith said

He pointed out how the Knicks now have to travel to San Antonio for at least another game, only because Trump’s distractions led to them losing focus.

Had he not arrived, the team would have continued its 13-game winning streak. Now, just because the President wanted to endear himself to New Yorkers after facing trouble with his stint with Giants QB Jaxson Dart, it ended up costing the Knicks.
