The US men’s national team hasn’t progressed beyond the Round of 16 in the last four editions of the FIFA Men’s World Cup. The hopes and expectations for a deeper run are high as the World Cup returned to their soil after 32 years.

Internet personality and YouTuber Jake Paul has his hopes very much higher. Paul eyes the USMNT going all the way to take the 18-carat, 14.5-inch trophy for the first time. His company, Betr, is going all-in on Team USA for the 2026 World Cup, but with a clever twist.

TMZ has reported that the platform has launched a massive promotion promising users $1.776 million in free spins if the U.S. pulls off a miracle and wins the tournament this summer. To protect itself from a massive payout, Betr used the prediction market Polymarket to place a giant bet on the U.S. winning. If the Americans take home the trophy, the winnings from Polymarket will cover the cost of the free spins. If they lose, the giveaway simply doesn’t happen.

The boxer also pitched in around $32,000, which he claims to be the “biggest position of my life on Polymarket.” Jake Paul explained the rationale behind his decision

Why? Because I love this country.

Paul added that “he’s nervous” about the bet. It’s expected of him. The USMNT is nowhere near the favorites to win the World Cup. Though they have started the group stage with a statement win against Paraguay on Friday, they will have to beat many solid teams to get to that trophy.

Paul, who has stepped into the boxing ring after his internet fame took off, is currently nursing the jaw injuries he suffered in his last bout. Anthony Joshua knocked out Paul in the sixth round at the Kaseya Center in Florida, handing him a brutal injury and the first KO loss of his career.

USMNT start the season with a resounding win over Paraguay

The spirits were electric in Inglewood. The United States followed Mexico’s suit to start their World Cup campaign with a 4-1 win over Paraguay. The Los Guaranis, marred by holes in their defense, were outdueled by the hosts.

The hosts opened the scoring in the first ten minutes, thanks to an own goal from Damián Bobadilla. In the history of men’s World Cup football, only France has benefited from more own-goal mistakes. Brooklyn-born Folarin Balogun scored a brace after his first goal was called offside. Christian Pulisic assisted the first goal and Malik Tillman freed the Monaco forward into the box for the second one.

Mauricio scored the sole consolation goal for the visitors in the 73rd minute, but they were unable to stage a comeback. Gio Reyna pummeled in the final nail on the coffin with a trivela past Paraguay’s Orlando Gill to cap the USMNT’s successful outing. Defender Chris Richards delivered a highlight performance for the team, successfully completing all of his 83 passes.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men will return to action against Australia on June 19, 2026, at the Lumen Field for their second matchday.
