Jalen Brunson became an NBA Champion for the first time after the New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 4-1. There is already chatter among fans who want to declare Brunson the best player in Knicks history.
The Knicks won 94-90 on Saturday. After the game, retired NFL quarterback-turned-ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky branded Brunson as the best player in Knicks history. Orlovsky tweeted:
[Jalen] Brunson is the greatest Knick of all time.
Brunson is the greatest Knick of all time

Fans on social media share their opinion on whether Jalen Brunson is the best Knicks player ever
Brunson produced 43.3 points per game in the 2025-26 postseason. Only Nikola Jokic (52.1 PPG in 2023), LeBron James (48.4 PPG in 2020), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (46.7 PPG in 2025), and Steph Curry (43.6 PPG in 2017) scored more than Brunson.
Brunson had a phenomenal season and has been a great player for the Knicks ever since he joined them back in 2022. He became an All-Star three years in a row. Now, he’s won a championship and the best player award. So, does that make Brunson the best player in Knicks history? Fans did not agree with Orlovsky. Most consider Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier as the GOAT.
Fraizer played ten seasons with the Knicks (1967-1977). According to Frasier’s resume, the 81-year-old is a 6x All-NBA, 7x All-Star, 2x Champ, 7x All-Defense, Hall of Fame, and won the MVP award during the 1975 NBA finals.
Certainly one of them. But there's Frazier, and The Pearl, and Willis, and Bradley. And more besides. But he's in good company. Like Bum Phillips used to say about Earl Campbell: He's in a class where it doesn't take long to call the roll.

Brunson is phenomenal but growing up watching Clyde Frazier I beg to differ with You! IMO Clyde is still the Greatest Knick, but if Jalen continues this pace and wins another Championship he may overtake Clyde as the Greatest Knick ever, it’s still early though!!

Brunson isn’t one to give such superficial awards too much thought. He’s busy enjoying being a champion. Brunson said:
Words can’t describe it. I’ll say: I put a lot of time and effort into trying to be the best player I can be to try and help a team win. Just really thankful to have the organization, the coaching staff, my teammates, to have my back every single day.
For the first time in 53 years, the Knicks are NBA Champions. It’s also the club’s third title. They have also won five conference and eight division titles in their history.
