Scooter Braun is giving Sydney Sweeney credit for bringing good luck to New York sports after the New York Knicks captured their first NBA championship in more than five decades.
The music executive made the remarks while traveling back from San Antonio following the Knicks’ 94-90 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on June 13. The win secured a 4-1 series triumph for New York and delivered the franchise’s first NBA title in 53 years.
In a video shared on Instagram by entrepreneur Steve Rifkind, Braun raised a toast to Sweeney aboard a private jet as celebrations continued after the championship win.
“Syd, I love you and your family so much. You’re the greatest good luck charm for a New York Knicks and Jets fan in history,” Braun said.
He then joked that Sweeney’s luck could extend beyond basketball. “The Jets could win the Super Bowl, I don’t know. It could get crazy,” he added.
Braun and Sweeney were among several celebrities in attendance at Frost Bank Center for the title-clinching game. During ESPN’s pregame coverage, commentator Charles Barkley spotted the actress in the crowd and playfully questioned her loyalty to the team. “Sydney Sweeney is here? Everybody is a New York Knicks fan now,” Barkley said during the broadcast.
Sweeney’s connection to the Knicks comes through Braun, a longtime supporter of the franchise. The pair were first linked publicly in June 2025 after being spotted together in Italy ahead of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding celebrations. Reports later described their relationship as casual before Sweeney made it Instagram official in May 2026.
The championship run marked a memorable stretch for the couple, who attended multiple Finals games together. They were also present at Madison Square Garden for Game 4, a pivotal victory that moved New York within one win of the title. The Knicks completed the series in five games and ended a championship drought that had lasted since 1973.
Sydney Sweeney showed support for the New York Knicks with a custom Jalen Brunson jersey
Sydney Sweeney also drew attention for her game day outfit during the championship clincher in San Antonio.
The actress arrived wearing a custom Jalen Brunson jersey transformed into a fitted T-shirt. The piece was created by Awear Apparel, with designer Kate Marr reportedly producing the custom design within 24 hours.

She paired the top with dark wash jeans and accessorized with a vintage Must de Cartier Tank watch and jewelry featuring the Knicks’ signature blue and orange colors.
The appearance continued a week of visible support for the team. Earlier in the Finals, Sweeney and Scooter Braun attended Game 4 at Madison Square Garden, where they sat a few rows behind Taylor Swift. Braun later revealed that Sweeney had purchased tickets in the same section as his father and brother so the family could experience the game together.
Following New York’s championship victory, Braun celebrated with family, friends and fellow fans before departing Texas with Sweeney. The Knicks’ title win capped off one of the most successful seasons in franchise history and gave New York its first NBA championship in more than half a century.
