Even though the Boston Celtics failed to land Giannis Antetokounmpo, the future of Jaylen Brown continues to be the hottest topic of discussion.
The franchise offered the California Golden Bears alum in a package to entice the Milwaukee Bucks to part with their superstar. But that did not work out, as the franchise felt the offer was not enough.
But they did think enough of the Miami Heat’s offer, which is why the Greek Freak is now linking up with his new teammates and working with them.
Antetokounmpo landing with the Heat makes it difficult for the rest of the Eastern Conference, as the balance has been reset. Now, the likes of the Celtics have to rethink their strategy.
Currently, that strategy involves getting additional pieces to help the core. However, it seems Brown is no longer considered to be a part of that group.
The Boston Celtics are actively engaged in trade talks surrounding Jaylen Brown, with multiple interested teams… The urgency from either side could change as the weeks go on.
Shams Charania revealed on NBA Today
ESPN’s lead insider added that the 2024 Finals MVP‘s monster supermax contract will limit the number of teams that can trade for him. But that could change over the course of the next few weeks once the other dominoes in free agency start dropping.

This means that even though the Celtics have made it clear Jaylen Brown is a part of their future, insider news is pointing to a possibility of him eventually leaving.
Kendrick Perkins believes Jaylen Brown should want out of Boston
Before Shams Charania revealed this, discussions surrounding Jaylen Brown’s future were no doubt one of the hottest topics on every debate show. When Get Up got to talking about it, Kendrick Perkins said:

This relationship is over. There’s no coming back from this. How many times is Brad Stevens and the Boston Celtics going to give Jaylen Brown a hug, with a knife in his back? This is the second time they have tried to trade this man. If I’m Brown, I want out of Boston… I don’t feel appreciated.

The analyst has, in the past, used his connections with his former team to figure out what the franchise and its former players think about the 2026 MVP finalist.

That is why he added during this appearance on Get Up that Brown running his mouth on streams has led to this. The Celtics’ decisions over the past few days have proved that they prefer to have their quiet family-man superstar in Jayson Tatum.
On the other hand, Perkins also believes that the franchise has given enough indications that they do not want Jaylen Brown there. Since the message is clear, it is time for the guard to demand a move out of Boston.
Kendrick Perkins uses 2008 championship team incident to explain Jaylen Brown’s situation
While explaining why Jaylen Brown needs to leave the Boston Celtics, Kendrick Perkins revealed an incident after he and his former team won the 2008 championship.
Ray Allen had a meeting with Danny Ainge & Doc Rivers, along with KG (Kevin Garnett) & Paul (Pierce), and it was about trading (Rajon) Rondo right after we won the championship for CP3 (Chris Paul). Word got back to Rondo. All of a sudden, that chemistry and relationship was so far apart, it was a point of no return.

The former center went on to add that eventually, the momentum swung towards Rajon Rondo, and Ray Allen found himself coming off the bench.

That led him to leave more money on the table and join LeBron James and the rival Miami Heat. He believes Brown’s situation could be a lot similar if he does not act now.
