WWE legend CM Punk has weighed in on football’s long-running Greatest of All Time debate, choosing Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former World Heavyweight Champion shared his verdict during an appearance on The Late Run Show, where he was asked to settle one of the sport’s most enduring arguments. While Punk admitted he was not equipped to compare the two superstars purely through statistics, given that football was not the sport he grew up following, he still had a clear favorite.

“Comparatively speaking, I can’t do a stat battle between them because I grew up in the era of Michael Jordan’s dynasty with the Chicago Bulls. It’s hard for me to go tit for tat; I can’t really argue, but to me, it’s Messi,” he said.

Punk’s remarks quickly gained traction online, adding another high-profile voice to a debate that has captivated football fans for nearly two decades.
