Angel Reese is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in the WNBA today. She was drafted by the Chicago Sky as the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft.
In her first two seasons in the WNBA, Reese was named an All-Star. She set the league single-season rebounding record in her rookie season. However, to everyone’s shock, she missed out this year as the WNBA announced the 10 starters for the 2026 All-Star Game in Chicago on Thursday.
No player from the Atlanta Dream was named as a starter for the All-Star Game. Angel Reese made her feelings known and highlighted the contributions of her teammates and veteran guards Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray.
I expect to be disrespected. For those two though (Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray), I think they work so hard and they put a lot of work in, and the way that they’re guarded every game and they have to adjust. The reason why we’re where we are is because of those two. For us not to have anyone was just a slap in the face, but they’re not going to say anything. I am.

Even though Angel Reese has made it to two All-Star teams in her young WNBA career, she was expected to be a starter this year. After spending two seasons in Chicago, she was traded to the Dream this year.
It was a slow start to the season for the center, but she has grown into her new team. She is currently averaging 14.8 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 1.6 steals in 20 appearances.
The Dream star has maintained her silence in the media for much of the season. But after the All-Star snub, she broke her silence and decided to speak up for her teammates and not just herself.
Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray miss out on All-Star starting roles
Both Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard have been arguably two of the best performers for the Dream. The two guards had the fifth and sixth highest scores among guards so far this season. Howard is currently averaging 18.9 points in 19 appearances, while Gray is averaging 18.3 points in 20 appearances.

Not only have they posted impressive scoring numbers along with Angel Reese, but they have also been crucial to the Dream’s strong start to the 2026 campaign. The Dream currently occupy the second spot in the Eastern Conference with a 12-8 record. Their record is the fifth-best in the league after 20 games into the season.
The guards selected as starters for the 2026 All-Star Game were Paige Bueckers, Olivia Miles, Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. Fans control 50 percent of the votes, players get 25 percent, and media voters make up the final 25 percent.
With only four guards to be named, Howard finished in fifth place, and Gray finished in sixth in the voting. Meanwhile, Reese was ranked seventh among frontcourt players. Six frontcourt players were named.
Angel Reese and her Dream came up short against the Washington Mystics
The Dream is in a bit of a bother at the moment. After starting 12-4 in their first 16 games, they have now lost four in a row after their latest defeat to the Washington Mystics.
With three defeats in a row, there was some pressure on the Dream heading into Thursday night. After a strong first half, the Dream faltered in the second half and ended up suffering an 81-76 defeat at the CareFirst Arena in Washington.
The big three for the Dream combined to score 54 points on Thursday. Rhyne Howard led the scorers with a game-high 24 points, while Allisha Gray scored 17 points. Angel Reese recorded her 13th double-double of the season as she ended her night with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
However, the Dream’s bench was outdone by the Mystics’ bench as they outscored the Dream by 24-12. The Dream will need to buckle up after four consecutive defeats. But they will be left disappointed that none of their players were selected as starters for the WNBA All-Star Game.
