Colin Cowherd’s Jaylen Brown ‘Disease’ Remark Triggers Donovan Mitchell & Fans – “C’mon Man”

The Jaylen Brown trade has left the NBA reeling, not because it happened, but because of the deal between the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers that raised eyebrows.
Teams do trade within the conference, as several deals have panned out. However, they do not happen between direct rivals. That was the case when Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The 76ers and the Celtics are always considered rivals, and it was heightened this past season when the former upstaged the Massachusetts-based team in the first round of the playoffs.
Therefore, the initial reaction to the trade was how fans felt when Kevin Durant joined the Golden State Warriors, the same team that booted him and his then-Oklahoma City Thunder out of the playoffs.
But when everyone read the fine print, they were shocked to see that the 76ers essentially sent a package that no one in their right mind would agree to.
There were two questions raised in this regard. Was that all the Celtics were getting, or was it something about Jaylen Brown that left his former team with no choice?
I had two NBA sources… two people in the league, one an executive, one a scout, say that Jaylen Brown has — it’s a disease. He suddenly thinks he’s the smartest guy in every room he’s in… You make a lot of money, suddenly you’re absolutely sure, you don’t wanna listen to your bosses, you don’t wanna listen to consultants, you don’t wanna listen to teammates.

Colin Cowherd says NBA sources told him Jaylen Brown became the "smartest guy in every room" — and the Celtics had enough 👀

The longtime analyst believes that the five-time All-Star being vocal is what cost him and the Celtics eventually, as he felt the live streams were damaging his value.
Donovan Mitchell leads fans’ wrath towards Colin Cowherd
The problem with this take is that instantly, it went viral as almost everyone interpreted it as a version of the infamous ‘shut up and dribble’ controversy that circled LeBron James for the past several years.
Cleveland Cavaliers superstar Donovan Mitchell was among the first to slam Colin Cowherd for his opinion, arguing that labeling it a disease went too far.
He felt people should make a conscious effort to stop others from saying anything they want, particularly when it is this disparaging. Fans felt the same way and flooded social media with similar reactions, examples of which are below.
Critique basketball all you want… but disease is insane… we gotta stop letting people just say whatever… cmon man! https://t.co/kZvqMGBYib

calling intelligence a “disease” is one of the most insane things i’ve ever read. https://t.co/vYHTyZJls1

oooooof this is shameless and gross https://t.co/Z5XlIf0DOi

This is a very weird way of saying execs are insecure of someone’s intelligence. They’re upset they can’t treat him like Tatum, and Tatum’s not as smart

"he doesn't listen to us because he thinks he is smarter"… lamest excuse I've ever heard

Sounds like somebody is mad because JB knows how to think and move for himself. Future athletes understand that whenever you go against the narrative..this is what happens..but times are changing. JB is doing it right.. https://t.co/Ikim6oimpK

Jaylen Brown too smart these dudes. They can’t take advantage of him so they have to resort by calling his awareness a disease 🤣.

But NASA offered him an opportunity to work there and he was an accomplished college student who was enrolled in Masters level classes as a Student- Athlete Freshman. Unique for someone playing sports. So yes depending on who is in the room. He might be the smartest. Eat it! https://t.co/6rJFlD0hk1

Jaylen Brown is one of the most vocal players currently and has received praise for being so, especially from his peers and former players. But it seems those in the media are not happy, as his opinions threaten them and their careers in some way.
Longtime analyst reveals actual reason why Jaylen Brown was traded
While many speculate about the character aspect, some have objectively examined the trade to figure out why the Boston Celtics decided to trade Jaylen Brown.

Owners did this, not Brad Stevens alone… They were never going to play very long together because no one was going to pay the two of them in one town, on one franchise, $600 million dollars.

The longtime analyst clarified that the Celtics’ previous owner is the one who handed both Brown and Jayson Tatum $300 million contracts. The new owners were not going to put up with it, simply because they would have to pay the luxury tax.
