This trade between the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers was not one of equals. That is why almost everyone is still trying to figure out why Jaylen Brown had to be moved in the first place.

It was clear that the superstar was not the one who wanted the trade. Rather, it was his now-former team that initiated all the conversations when they tried to get Giannis Antetokounmpo to go to Boston.

Instead, the Greek Freak and the Milwaukee Bucks decided it was better that he went to Miami. But what it did was open Pandora’s box when it came to Brown.

Then came the trade, and everyone was left shell-shocked by the disparity in compensation the Celtics received. Everyone felt that the franchise had lost its best player from last season for peanuts.

A lot of conversations and opinions were thrown around as to why the Celtics wanted to move on from him. However, what neither of them could envision was what Jaylen Brown meant to Boston fans.

I love you so much… you mean a lot to me. You are my favorite player in the whole NBA. Thank you for everything you’ve done for the Celtics.

The young fan was in tears when he said this and also asked his mother to put his handwritten note in the mail asking Jaylen Brown to return to the Celtics one day.

Giovanni Rubin Jean had met the five-time All-Star when he was with his former team, and poured out his heart for who is his favorite player. He said all this while wearing Brown’s No. 7 Celtics jersey.

There were other such videos of young fans sending out their love towards Brown, and their utter disappointment when they heard that he was traded away.

This has been the reaction from fans of all ages. It is just that their reactions vary depending on age. While this young fan was in tears, older ones were raging.

It seems this rage will continue and increase if Jaylen Brown ends up doing well for the 76ers and the Celtics struggle with Paul George in their lineup.

Jaylen Brown’s parting message to Celtics

With fans and the media still processing Jaylen Brown’s trade to the Philadelphia 76ers, the superstar had to bid goodbye to those who cheered for him back in Massachusetts.

I’m still processing how this all went down. I’m excited and disappointed at the same time. I earned my respect from this city. I never asked for shortcuts or special treatment… The relationships I built here, the battles we fought together, the championship we brought to this city, and the connection I shared with the fans, I’ll carry on with me.

In his own words, the Georgia native is still trying to get to grips with how and why it all went down in this manner. But he is happy with whatever he has built in his past workplace.

Brown ended the statement by showing his excitement about what Philadelphia will give him. However, he knows all too well that he needs to build his relationship with them first, especially after all the criticisms he threw in their direction in the past.
