Two prominent faces were missing from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden. They are Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

Swift and Lively go way back. The 38-year-old even made Swift the godmother of her three children she shares with Reynolds.

A sour patch appeared in their friendship when Lively dragged Swift into her legal battle with actor Justin Baldoni. According to court documents, Lively filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni of s*xual harassment on the sets of It Ends with Us. Baldoni filed a counter lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, and their publicist for defamation and extortion.

A Daily Mail report stated that Lively and Reynolds tried to make creative changes to the movie’s story using their close ties with the Grammy winner to pressure Baldoni. Baldoni attempted to subpoena Swift, a move Swift’s representatives criticized as an attempt to generate “tabloid clickbait”

Both parties eventually reached an out-of-court settlement before the final trial in May 2026. However, the damage was done. Swift and Lively are reportedly no longer on speaking terms.

The Daily Mail reports that Lively and Reynolds didn’t receive an invitation to Swift’s wedding at MSG, close to their apartment in New York. An insider told the Mail that Lively is “sad and a little bit p***ed. No, a lot p***ed… That friendship was over before, but if there was hope, it’s gone. They’ll never be friends again.”

Notable names who watched Swift say “I do” to Kelce at MSG include her bestie Selena Gomez, Adam Sandler, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Brady, Tony Gonzalez and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. The Mail also reports that Sandler took it upon himself to officiate the wedding.

How were Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding vows?

Swift and Kelce have been planning their wedding for a while. The venue for the “royal” extravaganza changed a few times. Experts speculated Swift’s marriage would take place at her Rhode Island house. Some even guessed Tennessee as the destination, as she began her career there.

Eventually, Swift and Kelce settled on hosting their special day at the iconic and historic Madison Square Garden on July 3, 2026. Only guests and officials with proper clearance had permission to enter MSG.

Fans and media waited outside, where large displays urged them not to take pictures or record videos. The little scoops most gossip outlets know about are second-hand accounts of invitees. One of them is Adam Aron (CEO of AMC). Aron said about the décor inside the MSG:

It did not look like Madison Square Garden.  Immediately upon entry, everything… floors, walls, ceilings… was draped in peach and white. Large blown-up pictures of Taylor and Travis at each age, year by year from one year-old to late teenager-hood, were on display.

When asked about the vows of the newlywed couple, Aaron said it was “emotional:”

Long, entertaining, personal, charming, emotional, irreverent and endearing explorations by each as to how they met, why they want to be with each other for all eternity, the promises they made in joining their much-beloved two whole families [Kelce’s and Swift’s] as one, and committing to their new mutual life together. 

Swift and Kelce began dating in 2023. The Kansas City Chiefs star proposed to her in August 2025.
