Yesterday, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr joked with fans that free agent superstar LeBron James was signing with them.

Both he and the fans knew that he was just trolling, as any mention of James would trend on social media since everyone wants to know where he is going next.

His joke did trend, considering that his top two stars, Draymond Green and Stephen Curry, have openly tried to recruit him on various occasions.

The former did it during his get-together with the former Lakers superstar a week ago, but made it clear that his pitch to James may not mean anything as the latter will take into account every team on his radar.

Then Curry appeared on Good Morning America and suggested that if his Paris Olympics teammate wanted to enjoy golf and play perfect basketball, he should relocate to the Bay Area.

However, the two-time league MVP did mention that the ball is in James’ court, which gave the hint that he is not sure whether his fellow Akron native would sign with them.

The Warriors would need a little bit of work still… They are, to my knowledge, behind other teams such as a Miami, Cleveland, and Philadelphia.

Shams Charania said on The Pat McAfee Show

The lead NBA insider made it clear that since the Warriors are nowhere near trading for Anthony Davis, they are running behind other franchises in the pursuit of LeBron James.

Getting the Wizards center was considered crucial if the league’s all-time leading scorer was to sign with the Warriors. Since that does not look to be on the cards, James might not consider them over the other options.

No one knows LeBron James’ next destination

This Steve Kerr ‘We’ve Got Him’ joke spread so far and wide that even mainstream media had to talk about it. When Brian Windhorst appeared on First Take, host Shae Cornette asked him whether this ‘joke’ had any truth to it.

I’m sure that’s the way the news is gonna come out. Steve Kerr at a stoplight… I was in Vegas all week, and teams that were in the LeBron sweepstakes were coming up to me saying, ‘What do you think he’s gonna do?’ They don’t know. I promise you.

Brian Windhorst replied

The ESPN senior writer made it clear that even the Golden State Warriors do not have a clue about LeBron James’ next destination. The four-time champion is holding all the cards close to his chest, which is why no one can pinpoint his next move.

Windhorst mentioned that this Kerr joke and the pitches from Warriors players aside, there is no indication from James or his camp what he is looking for in his next team.

He termed it ‘happiness.’ But the analyst pointed out that the term is as vague as it could get because no one knows the sort of happiness James is looking for.

NBC analyst wants to see LeBron James pair up with Stephen Curry

While others believe that the Golden State Warriors may not be in a position to sign the player who snatched the 2016 championship from them, one analyst wants LeBron James to team up with Stephen Curry.

I want LeBron James to go to Golden State. I want to see Steph and the crew make one last run… Cleveland to me just feels as a story, better… But the fan (in me) wants to see Golden State. Steph and LeBron, they vibed in the Olympics.

Mike Tirico said on The Pat McAfee Show

Mike Tirico did say that going back to Cleveland would end the story in the most perfect way for James. However, the fan in him wants to see the two Akron natives play together and continue the vibes from the Paris Olympics.
