The 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season so far has been wild for Carson Hocevar. He secured his maiden win in the elite division at Talladega, but since then he has found himself in the wrong side of criticism owing to his aggressive racing style. The recent drama involving Zane Smith and his questionable comments about cherishing aggressive racing have also raised a lot of eyebrows.

2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick has shared his thoughts on the young Spire Motorsports driver in the lates episode of his Happy Hour podcast. He highlighted how the No:77 Chevy driver is someone that often pisses of majority of his rivals with his words that he backs up with his pace as well as aggressive racing style.

I like the way he drives. You’re going to p*** a lot of people off with the moves and things that you’re making. But when you have the speed like he does to back it up and you own it. He’s fast, he owns it, he’s living and dying on the sword, right?

Kevin Harvick said on his podcast.

Many in the community over the years have asked the young Spire Motorsports driver to be less aggressive on the track and Carson Hocevar hasn’t listened to any one of them. Kevin Harvick is okay with it, because he thinks it is good be honest about oneself on the track other than acting like a nice guy when he isn’t.

It’s not like he’s making up some BS that makes you think that I’m a nice guy or I didn’t do this or I feel sorry for him. He’s just right to it. Honest. And I’d rather have it that way than some BS to go along with trying to justify it.

Kevin Harvick asserted via Happy Hour podcast.

Further talking about the point, the former Stewart Haas Racing driver warned Hocevar about inviting trouble with his comments about cherishing aggressive duels. Harvick pointed out that the Chevy driver isn’t ready for a real fight with most aggressive drivers on the Cup garage at the moment.

I don’t really envision him as being like a really good fighter either. You just better pick the right guy. The right guy’s gonna knock your teeth out.

Kevin Harvick added.

NASCAR legend wants Carson Hocevar to continue racing aggressive

While some drivers want Hocevar to change, ex-racer Ken Schrader doesn’t think it is necessary. In the latest episode of his podcast, the racing legend asserted that Hocevar should not change his driving style for his others because it’s the one factor that is helping him to stand apart and if he changes, he would become just another car in the mix.

Here’s my main thing about Carson Hocevar. When you pull the reins back on a driver, sometimes they settle down and do good. And a lot of times, you kill that driver’s skill. You kill that little extra thing that they’ve got that makes them fast and exciting. So that’s what I don’t want to have happen to Carson Hocevar. Pull the reins back and mess him up.

Ken Schrader said on Schrader and Herm podcast.

The comments from the veteran racer are on point and shows how the difference in approach the racing community has about Hocevar. It would be interesting to see jhow everything is going to playout for the star driver in the upcoming days.
