The LeBron James free agency saga is showing no signs of slowing down. Coming off a historic 23rd season in the NBA, there has been no shortage of suitors for James heading into the 2026-27 campaign.

After Luka Doncic was ruled out with a hamstring injury, James turned back the clock during the postseason and led the Los Angeles Lakers to a Western Conference Semifinals finish this year. While his performances surprised many, it also showed that he continues to defy Father Time like never before and is here to stay.

James’ agent Rich Paul hinted that James has more than one season in him and at least 10 clubs are interested in signing him. For the majority of the two weeks, he has been heavily linked to his former clubs, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat. But he has also been linked to the Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors. However, a new club has emerged over the last few days – the Minnesota Timberwolves.

During a recent promotional event for Topps, Anthony Edwards delivered a short pitch to James while holding up a trading card.

Bron Bron… come to Minnesota. we got your card man.

The Wolves star joins a list of players who have tried to recruit the King over the last few days. Edwards has made a name for himself in the last three years. He has beaten the likes of James, Kevin Durant, Nikola Jokic and Stephen Curry in the playoffs after leading the Wolves to the Western Conference Finals in 2024 and 2025.

Anthony Edwards has played with James during their time together for Team USA at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Their performances helped their country win the gold medal. The young star clashed with James and Doncic in the first round of the playoffs last year and came out on top in five games. While the Wolves have been pursuing James, they will hope that a pitch from their franchise player will add some more weight to their pursuit.

LeBron James would turn the Wolves into championship contenders

LeBron James is clearly not the player he once was and is well past his prime. However, Edwards is in his prime and is coming off his best season in terms of individual numbers. Edwards elevated his game in the offseason last year after getting some help from the legendary Michael Jordan.

With an athletic and two-way player like Edwards leading the way, James could fit into the Wolves’ system very well. The four-time champion will bring in some much-needed playoff experience and elite passing ability to the Wolves’ offense.

After consecutive Western Conference Finals finishes in 2024 and 2025, Edwards and the Wolves were ready to take the next step this year. Unfortunately, that was not the case, as they were eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Semifinals this year.

Meanwhile, the Lakers were eliminated in the same round as well. A team with James and Edwards can pose a real danger to any team in a highly stacked Western Conference. According to some analysts, James joining forces with Edwards would make perfect basketball sense as well due to their style of play.

Wolves have one of the most exciting backcourts with Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball

If James does sign for the Wolves, he will not be the only big move the front office has made this offseason. After trading away Julius Randle to the Brooklyn Nets, the Wolves surprised everyone when they traded for LaMelo Ball from the Charlotte Hornets. The move sees the first pick, Edwards, and the third pick, Ball, of the 2020 NBA draft join forces in the backcourt.
