Anthony Edwards is widely regarded as one of the best players in the NBA today. Some have even gone as far as to call him as the next face of the league after his rampant growth with every passing season.
He is coming off his best campaign in terms of individual numbers. Unfortunately, his season came to an end after they were beaten by the eventual finalists, the San Antonio Spurs, in six games in the Western Conference Semifinals.
While Edwards has become a force to reckon with on the court, things have been very complicated in his personal life. He is alleged to have children with other women. His baby mother, Ayesha Howard, shared her criticisms towards the Minnesota Timberwolves star in an Instagram Story on Wednesday.
However, whether true or false, this situation highlights a devastating cycle in our community: the normalization of absent fathers and the lack of parental accountability. Tragically, our community often feeds into this negativity, inadvertently applauding behavior that keeps Black children at the highest percentile of living in single-parent households. A man can take the jersey off his back shoes off his feet and to sign for fans, yet his own three children are missing that same signature on their birth certificates and have never even met him.

It has been an eventful summer for Edwards so far. It was recently confirmed that he is married to his longtime partner, Shannon Jackson. The couple tied the knot a couple of weeks ago based on the Minnesota marriage records. The couple shares a daughter with each other.
Their marriage took place just days after Edwards won his child support battle against Ayesha Howard. The judge in Georgia ordered him to pay $3,222 a month in child support. The baby mother called out the “deeply troubling” negative backlash that she has received and called out Edwards for being an absent father.
Fans react to Ayesha Howard going off on Anthony Edwards after court ruling
Howard has accused Anthony Edwards of never signing his kids’ birth certificates and never meeting them. While she did not name-drop Edwards directly, she referred to him as “a celebrated athlete” and “the father.” After all the backlash she has received over the past few days, she believed it was time to share her side of the story.
Following her strong accusations against the four-time All-Star, fans were quick to take to social media to react to her Instagram story.
This is exactly why people shouldn't rush to pick a side. There's obviously a lot going on behind the scenes, and social media only ever gets one version first.

She does have a point. Ant has no reason to not be a part of those kids lives, he is hilariously wealthy and has the resources to not gave to deal with the mothers and only see his kids. At his core he is a piece of shit as a man for creating children and not being there for…

men will literally use the entire legal system instead of just being a dad lmao

That man said he didn’t want to be a baby daddy, and you preyed on him so you get what you get, that kid was doomed unless you had a step dummy already in the making.

No matter who's right, hopefully the focus stays on what's best for the kids. 🙏

she right for calling out the absent father epidemic. half of black kids growing up without dads in the house is no joke and anthony edwards having multiple kids he won’t even sign for is a perfect example of the problem.

Most of them were in support of what she had to say, while some called her out for her story. When she was pregnant, Edwards sent her messages asking her to get an abortion, as he had no intention to be a part of the child’s life. Howard ended her story with a request to cease the coverage.
Anthony Edwards on playing with LaMelo Ball
The Wolves surprised everyone in the summer when they traded away Julius Randle to clear their cap space. However, the bigger surprise was when they went on to acquire LaMelo Ball a few days later. The move sees two top-three picks of the 2020 draft class join forces in Minnesota.

During the Fanatics Fest, Edwards spoke about teaming up with Ball next season.
It’s definitely going to be ups and downs. First year together maybe a lot of downs. We’ll celebrate both of them. Celebrate the ups, celebrate the downs.

It will be interesting to see how the two young stars play side by side next season. Their offense will definitely get a lot better with Ball pulling the strings as the point guard. The expectations will be high on Edwards to take them on a deep postseason run next year.
