Luka Doncic endured a difficult end to his 2025-26 campaign. However, he has been facing a lot of troubles in his personal life as well. His relationship with his longtime girlfriend and ex-fiancée Anamaria Goltes came to an end at the turn of the year. The two were together for 10 years.

Reports of their relationship coming to an end started a few weeks before it was actually confirmed, as Goltes was living in Slovenia. The former couple has two daughters together. The older daughter is two, while the younger one will turn one in December.

Based on recent developments, it has been revealed that Goltes is dropping her court case over child support for their two children. TMZ Sports confirmed through the court documents she submitted that she asked the judge to drop the case. The pending court date is scheduled for Aug. 14.

I am withdrawing my petition for child support with the specific intention of resolving this matter amicably and by a mutual agreement which is in the best interests of our children.

It is unfortunate that their relationship took an ugly turn since the beginning of 2026. The two were caught in a custody battle over their two daughters for a few months now.

Anamaria Goltes was looking for child support by filing a petition after their separation. Doncic and his attorney tried to get the petition dismissed as she filed it in California. His reasoning was that he was not a resident of California and his daughters were living in Slovenia. He also claimed that he had already filed a petition in his home country.

Anamaria Goltes’ request to dismiss the petition was rejected by the court

The whole case between the two quickly caught headlines across the NBA world. Doncic even received support from his former Dallas Mavericks teammate, Kyrie Irving.

While Goltes filed the petition to dismiss it on Monday, the court rejected it. It was reported that the paperwork was missing Doncic’s signature.

Doncic’s two daughters live with their mother in Slovenia. Hence, the Los Angeles Lakers guard has been spending his offseason back home to stay close with his children till the 2026-27 campaign gets underway. To extend his stay in Slovenia, he hosted the entire Lakers team to a four-day training camp.

With the petition and ugly battle for child support coming to an end, Doncic will feel a lot more relieved heading into the new season. The two broke off their three-year engagement and have been at it since. It was also reported that he tried to convince Goltes to move to the Golden State with their kids, but she refused and continued to live in Slovenia.

Rick Carlisle on Luka Doncic

There is no doubt that Luka Doncic is one of the most talented and skilled players in the league today. He won the scoring title last season as he averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists in 64 appearances.

His performances led the Lakers to a fourth-place finish in a stacked Western Conference standings. Unfortunately, he was ruled out for the entire playoffs as he suffered a hamstring injury towards the end of the regular season.

Doncic’s former head coach in Dallas, Rick Carlisle, played an instrumental role when the Slovenian entered the NBA in 2018. The current Indiana Pacers head coach spoke about Doncic’s talent and greatness.

From a talent standpoint and everything else, he’s the most unique player I’ve ever worked with. I defy you to figure out a way to beat him, he knows every trick in the book, and he knows how to win.

Doncic will be looking for a deep postseason run next year. The roster is built around him, and without LeBron James next to him, he will have a bigger role in being the leader of the locker room as well.
