At a time when Luka Doncic is working towards becoming the leader of the Los Angeles Lakers following LeBron James‘ departure, his hands are full trying to fight for custody of his children against his ex-fiancée, Anamaria Goltes.

The two had been together since their teenage days, which to many was a sign that they would probably stay together forever. But during his second season wearing the purple and gold, Goltes and his eldest daughter were not seen in the stands as often as they had before.

It then came to light that the couple was expecting their second child, which is why Goltes was back in Slovenia. However, that is where things started taking a turn for the worse.

It was reported that the social media influencer initially tried to deny Doncic access to see his newborn child. Only after persuasion did Goltes agree to let him see his second daughter.

Since then, the two have been fighting for child custody, with the model denying the shooting guard access to see his daughters. She first filed a child custody and support petition in Los Angeles, but recently withdrew it.

Anamaria has filed a new claim in Slovenia … and she is seeking $40 million for herself … we assume the remaining $10 million is for their two daughters… We’re also told she wants to strip Luka of some of his custody rights. Currently, he has the kids at least 2 days a week, and she wants to reduce it to one day a week.

TMZ revealed

The publication added that Doncic may be fine with paying her $10 million for his two daughters, but Goltes asking for $40 million for herself has taken him aback.

As soon as this news came to light, there was no doubt that fans would want to let Anamaria Goltes know what they think about this. Former NFL star Dez Bryant labeled this as extortion.

Others believed that she probably saw how much Luka Doncic was going to make and decided she needed a piece of it. To use their children and child custody as pawns left fans seething. Check out examples of those reactions below.

Goltes may have her reasons to go this route. When she first withdrew the petition she filed in Los Angeles, many felt she was coming around to accept that she has a better life with Luka Doncic. But now, they believe that it was just a means to get to what she really wants.

Child custody battle has dented Luka Doncic’s summer plans

Every offseason, Luka Doncic spends time back in his home country of Slovenia, and then heads to other parts of Europe before returning stateside. This time, he had the added motivation of playing for his national team for the FIBA qualifiers.

However, that plan went to naught, as he realized this child custody battle was going to take a while. He then paid for the entire Lakers team to travel to Slovenia to work out with him.

That means that he does not want to leave his home country until something is finalized. If he sorts this out now, he will be able to head back and play in peace. If not, it will affect his performance on the court, as Doncic clearly wants his daughters around him.
