Odell Beckham Jr. had a forgetful return to the New York Giants. Despite getting open on several occasions, the quarterbacks weren’t able to connect with him.

After the game ended, OBJ made it clear what he thought about Saturday’s performance.

It’s a blessing to be out there, it’s a blessing to be healthy, but I thought for a second it was about time to get back in that end zone.

The Giants rotated three quarterbacks against the Vikings. Jaxson Dart kicked off the proceedings before passing the baton to veteran Jameis Winston. Brandon Allen rounded out the QB carousel.

For the amount of time Beckham was on the field, he was targeted just three times. He caught two passes for six yards. The numbers would look different if the Giants’ quarterbacks had thrown the ball to the Super Bowl winner more.

I’m glad they see it, but I’ve been doing it. It feels good just to be back out there, but I do feel pretty good.

The Giants drafted Odell Beckham Jr. 14th overall in 2014. OBJ had 390 catches for 5,476 yards and has scored 44 touchdowns in 59 games before the Giants traded him to the Cleveland Browns. Two and a half years and 39 games later, Beckham was on the road once again, this time joining the Los Angeles Rams, where he won a Super Bowl ring in 2021. He joined the Baltimore Ravens in 2023 and appeared in 9 games for the Miami Dolphins in 2024. The Dolphins cut him, and he remained a free agent for almost twenty months before John Harbaugh and the Giants re-signed the 33-year-old on a one-year contract.

Will Odell Beckham Jr. make the Giants’ final roster?

The Giants could benefit from Beckham’s experience and expertise. But his roster spot is not guaranteed.

Then again, Jordan Raanan of ESPN earlier in the month reported that the Giants have been very impressed with Beckham during the offseason camp.

Odell Beckham Jr. is proving that when healthy, he can still play… He only got better as training camp went on, especially when getting some first-team reps. But he’ll have his work cut out for him to secure one of the final wide receiver spots.

Raanan wrote

The Giants’ WR room is loaded. The NFC East franchise boasts veterans Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt, and Isaiah Hodgins. In the offseason, they added JuJu Smith-Schuster, Calvin Austin III, Darnell Mooney, and Braxton Berrios from free agency.

Moreover, WR1 Malik Nabers will return from his rehab a few weeks into the 2026 season. OBJ has to build a strong tape to lock down a roster spot. Statistically, the Vikings game was a dud, but the tape proved that he can still be dangerous.

I love Odell. What he’s doing, what he’s fighting for, I don’t know how it’s going to turn out.

John Harbaugh told SNY Media

Up next, the Giants head to Hard Rock Stadium to play the Miami Dolphins. The Giants close out their preseason adventure with the Big Apple rivalry against the New York Jets. In week one of the 2026 season, they host the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.
