Kyle Tucker has struggled in his first season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Sunday, the frustrations of the fans boiled over after he had a defensive mishap in the outfield against the Milwaukee Brewers. As he missed a catch, spectators at Dodger Stadium rained down boos on the 4-time All-Star.

Tucker was one of the biggest free agents in the offseason last year. In the 2025 season, he hit 22 home runs and had 73 RBIs in 136 games with the Chicago Cubs.

In January, the Dodgers were the ones who landed him. The 2-time defending World Series champion brought him in on a 4-year, $240 million deal.

Following his signing, fans on social media erupted. The Dodgers, who had signed Edwin Diaz on a 3-year deal before signing Tucker, faced backlash once again.

Fast forward to August, and it is the Dodgers fans who are now unhappy with him. The former Houston Astros star has not been able to live up to the expectations placed on him.

In 117 games this season, he has just 11 home runs and 54 RBIs with a .232 batting average. This past weekend, the Dodgers took on the Brewers in a pivotal 4-game series.

The NL West, who have struggled in recent times, dropped the game 6-2 on Sunday. Despite having Tarik Skubal on the mound, they lost once again.

Tucker went 0-for-19 in this homestand. In his last 7 games, he has just 1 hit in 23 plate appearances with a slash line of .043/.154/.130.

His offensive slump seems to have affected his defensive capabilities as well. In the 9th inning of the game on Sunday, the Brewers were leading 4-1 with one out and one runner on base.

Jackson Chourio would then hit a fly ball in right field. Tucker raced towards it and seemed to be in control. In the end, he ended up dropping the ball, leading to huge boos from the fans.

The Brewers put up 2 more runs from there on and won 6-2 and took 3 out of the 4 games against the Dodgers. For Tucker, it was another game to forget.

Kyle Tucker has performed well offensively on the road

Kyle Tucker had another outing at Dodger Stadium on Sunday. He went 0-for-3 and was hitless in the 7-game home stand of the Los Angeles Dodgers. This is a major contrast to his road form, where he has performed well.

As per stats by MLB.com, Tucker has 2 home runs and 17 RBIs in 60 games at Dodger Stadium. He has produced a slash line of .189/.286/.272 in home games.

On the road, he has 9 home runs and 37 RBIs in 57 games with a .275/.371/.469. He also has 7 doubles, 3 triples, and 57 hits in 207 at-bats.

Given the difference in form at home and away games, the Dodgers did give him a day off on Saturday. That move from Dave Roberts and the Dodgers, however, did not work out as he went hitless once again on Sunday.

The Dodgers’ next assignment is on the road. They will face the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. The Denver-based side is at the bottom of the NL West standings with a 50-74 record. After that, they return home to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates before embarking on a 6-game road trip.
