Kyle Tucker has struggled a lot this season. The 4-time All-Star has been on an offensive skid this season and has failed to make a desired impact. Amidst these struggles, an ex-Dodgers star urged the team to send him down to the minor leagues for a complete reset.
The outfielder was one of the big free agents last offseason. After 22 home runs and 73 RBIs in 136 games with the Chicago Cubs last season, he became a free agent.
His free agency was a bit slow. After several weeks of speculation and rumors, Tucker agreed to join the Dodgers and picked Los Angeles as his next destination.
The former Houston Astros star signed a 4-year, $240 million deal. With an Average Annual Value (AAV) of $57 million, he became one of the highest earners in the league.
So far, he has not lived up to the expectations placed on him. In 118 games, he has just 11 home runs and 54 RBIs. The worrying sign in this is his form at home.
At Dodger Stadium, he has just 2 home runs. During the recent 7-game homestand, he went hitless. Apart from that, he also had some defensive mishaps as he dropped a routine fly ball on Sunday. This led to the home fans booing him.

His struggles continued on the road on Monday. In the series opener against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, he went 0-for-5. He is now on a 7-game hitless streak.
This form has affected his fielding as well. In the 7th inning, he ended up dropping another routine fly ball.

During the 9th inning of the game, former Dodgers star and current Sportsnet LA broadcaster Eric Karros had some tough words for him. He urged the team to send him down to Arizona in the minor leagues for a reset.
I honestly think the best thing right now is a reset. … You’ve got a month and a half and you’ve tried things here. Like I said, I think you need a reset. I think you need to go to Arizona, start working on some things, change some things.

During the series against the Milwaukee Brewers, Tucker was given a day off to clear out his frustrations. However, that move did not help him.
Dave Roberts claims Dodgers have to keep supporting Kyle Tucker
Kyle Tucker’s move to the Los Angeles Dodgers has so far not gone the way he would have hoped. His offensive skid has led to a major concern among the fanbase. While speaking about him, manager Dave Roberts claimed that the team needs to keep supporting him.

Following the 11-5 win, Roberts admitted that Tucker was “frustrated” with his form. The Dodgers skipper then pointed out his fielding shape to take the catch and claimed that it was indecision and spoke about where his head was at the moment.
Catching a baseball at your ankles kind of speaks to where his head is at right now. It’s not from lack of effort, care. It’s just kind of right now he’s fighting it. We’ve got to keep supporting him. That’s what we gotta do. Keep supporting him.

It remains to be seen what the Dodgers do. If he keeps struggling at the major league level, they could demote him. They would, however, like to keep him at the top level and hope he breaks through soon.
For now, the 2-time defending champions will turn their attention towards the Rockies before heading home to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates. With their win on Monday, they are 75-51 for the season and have an 8-game lead over the San Diego Padres in second place in the NL West standings.
