The NASCAR Cup Series race last Saturday at Daytona left RFK Racing veteran Chris Buescher frustrated. He came in hoping to be in the fight for the win and was on track to it, with a strong run in the first stage before the No:5 Chevy of Kyle Larson messed everything for him.

On the final lap of the race, the No:17 Ford was on the lead and was just a corner away from earning some valuable points, when the Hendrick Motorsport driver made contact with his right rear. They both spun out, collecting another driver in process.

The incident caused significant damage to the RFK Ford, forcing them to make a pit-stop. It took multiple laps for the veteran racer to return to the track and eventually finish dead last. Talking about the moment, he admitted that the incident ruined his day.

Yeah, I mean, it killed our night. Too many laps down and that one right there scared the rest of the field into behaving for the rest of the night. So, I just got dumped. I mean, we got up in the lane, top lane, off of four and made it all the way almost to the tri-oval and just, that *****. No way around that.

Chris Buscher said post-race.

Further talking about the point, Chris Buescher asserted how he had a fats car and if not for the incident he would’ve had a solid day. Though Kyle Larson apologized to him, he is frustrated as the defending Cup champion should not have swipe him from behind as he did.

Fifth Third Ford Mustang was really fast. We had a lot of speed right up front there and I was having a good time. Unfortunately, that’s all we got was 34 and seven-eighths laps on the day… It just needed to be square, right? Yeah, pushing is fine. It just needs to be square, and it’s gotten us at a couple speedways now. Just, you know, just swiping, swiping it across. Just frustrating.

Chris Buscher gave his verdict on new superspeedway package

Later in the same conversation, Buescher talked about how the new rule package influenced racing on Saturday. He was not that impressed with the package, as he is expected it to make racing better.  He believes the sport is in the right direction in the fixing the issues with the Next-Gen ear superspeedway racing, but they change isn’t big enough at the moment.

Not enough. I expected it to be a little bit more on edge for the first day, just a little hotter out. And it was, it was a slight improvement, but obviously I wasn’t in contention, but watching everybody beat three wide, able to keep packed up like that the second stage tells me probably wasn’t enough. But you know, maybe directionally correct.

Chris Buescher said.

The comments from the veteran racer are on point and many drivers in the garage shared similar opinion about the change. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to play out for the drivers when they use the package once again at Talladega chase race.
