The NASCAR Cup Series race last weekend at Darlington saw Carson Hocevar wrecking Brad Keselowski and irking not only the RFK Racing owner driver, but the majority of the garage as well. Many prominent figures of the sport called out the racer, as well as his team for enabling the “disrespectful” racing from the youngster.
JGR veteran Denny Hamlin was one of them, as he called put the racer and also branded Spire an unserious team for not getting involved. The Chevy team co-owner Jeff Dickerson fired back, highlighting their personal beef over the Chris Gabehart lawsuit and also took a dig at the TRD team pointing figure to their internal issue involving Ty Gibbs and the No:54 team.
DH: There’s no adults in the room, clearly, in that building. No adults. That’s my opinion. Because, honestly, think that’s what’s best for your company? If you’re running a serious organization. I think they’re unserious.
JD: We’re serious enough to sue, apparently… If anybody thinks I’m going to come on this show and say Denny doesn’t know what he’s talking about, that’s not going to occur… Denny knows absolutely what he’s talking about, because I can tell you how I took it.

This got the attention of the of Denny Hamlin, who responded ahead of the Watkins Glen Cup race. He admitted that the response from Spire owner was fair and refused to add anymore fire to the fuel. The veteran seems to admit that there were some unseriousness things happening at JGR regarding Ty Gibbs for sometimes in the past.
I think it was somewhat fair. I don’t have a lot to add to that, but it is somewhat fair.
Denny Hamlin asserted at Glen, as reported via On3.com.
NASCAR wants to take advantage of the Denny Hamlin-Jeff Dickerson beef
Just like what Dale Earnhardt Jr. suggested, the feud between Hamlin and Dickerson can be beneficial for the sport. NASCAR’s Steve O’Donnell talked about it and highlighted how the sport can take advantage of it just like Formula One does it. For that he wants the back and forth to happen mostly during the media sessions, not podcasts.

We do some things the right way. I don’t want to imitate anyone, but I certainly want to learn from them, you know. Go back to Formula One, the storytelling they did, not just around the drivers, but team principals- and we gotta do that. If Denny Hamlin wants to take a shot at another team owner that we have, they should be in the media center next week talking about it, right, and let’s build up those rivalries.
Steve O’Donnell said.
The seems to be a rational explanation from the Senior VP and NASCAR needs to take advantage of the situation to grow more. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout in the sport over the upcoming races, with Hocevar being a major talking point.
