Klay Thompson is widely regarded as one of the greatest shooters of all time. The Golden State Warriors drafted him with the 11th pick in the 2011 NBA draft.

He played his first 13 seasons with the Warriors and formed one of the most lethal backcourts in NBA history alongside Stephen Curry. The two were popularly known as the “Splash Brothers” and changed the game of basketball forever with their three-point shooting.

Meanwhile, Michael Porter Jr. is in a different phase in his career. The forward is coming off his best individual campaign after his debut season with the Brooklyn Nets.

MPJ was recently seen working out with renowned YouTuber N3on. During the live stream, MPJ spoke about getting a brutal reality check about his own shooting skills when he worked out with Thompson this summer.

You know what’s crazy? Me and Klay Thompson just worked out together. I used to think I was the best shooter, but not anymore. He beat me by one spot; it was close, and after the workout he was like, ‘It’s been so long since I’ve shot against someone that challenges me. And that’s how I felt, that I never get to work out with someone that challenges me.

Klay Thompson is coming off a difficult two-year stint with the Dallas Mavericks. After being linked to the Miami Heat for several weeks, he bought out his Mavs contract and signed with the Heat as a free agent.

The move has generated a lot of excitement among Heat fans. The four-time champion is looking to bounce back after one of the worst shooting-efficiency seasons of his career last season. He is currently fourth on the All-Time three-point leaders list and shoots over 40% from beyond the arc in his career.

Last season, Klay Thompson shot at 38.3% from the three-point line. While the shooting percentage is impressive for most players in the league, it was a career-low for Thompson. And yet, he’s still going head-to-head and beating MPJ in workouts.

Thompson may be well past his prime, but an offseason workout video showed him knocking down 72 straight three-pointers without missing.

After joining the Heat, Thompson has set his sights on breaking the franchise’s single-season three-point record. The record is currently held by Duncan Robinson, who made 270 three-pointers in the 2019-20 season.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo in the frontcourt, Thompson will fancy his chances of breaking the franchise record. He made 202 three-pointers for the Mavs despite being a role player for the majority of last season. However, based on MPJ’s statements, Thompson is still one of the best shooters in the game.

Michael Porter Jr. believes the Brooklyn Nets can far exceed expectations next season

The Nets are in a rebuilding phase at the moment. After trading away Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in the last few years, the Nets were led by Michael Porter Jr. last season.

The 28-year-old posted some impressive numbers in his first season for the Nets as he averaged a career-high 24.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and three assists in 52 appearances. However, it wasn’t enough to lead them to the playoffs, as they finished 13th in the Eastern Conference standings with a 20-62 record.

Speaking to N3on, MPJ revealed that the Nets can win more than 50 games next season.

(Randle) can draw a double team. He can get downhill, draw a double team, and then swing it to me; I can shoot the 3. If we can get that chemistry right, all of our young guys from last year got so much better, bro. I don’t know what the expectations are for our team, but we’re definitely going to surpass them. Yeah, I do (on the Nets winning more than 50 games).

The Nets traded for Julius Randle in the summer this year. While the Nets have improved with the addition of Randle, it remains to be seen whether they can record 50 wins in a stacked Eastern Conference next season. However, a spot in the Play-In Tournament will be seen as a significant improvement for the franchise.
