Zuffa Boxing's absence from Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua event does not mean Dana White is absent from promoting the superfight.

For months now, UFC CEO Dana White insisted that he was part of the upcoming Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua superfight. Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, made sure to deny the involvement of Zuffa Boxing and TKO for the event.

Nevertheless, there were other loopholes that White could exploit to get involved. After all, Fury made sure to remove such clauses in his contract. Moreover, Turki Alalshikh is the one paying the bill. White’s involvement is due to his friendship with Alalshikh.

White recently spoke with Sun Boxing’s Jack Figg. The 57-year-old gave clarity about his involvement without Zuffa Boxing or TKO. The UFC CEO revealed that he wouldn’t go out of his way to become part of a superfight unless other people wanted him to do it.

The reality is that Turki wanted me to be a part of this thing. Netflix wanted me to be a part of this thing, so I am. That’s it. I mean, if they didn’t want me to be a part of it you wouldn’t see me trying to, you know, fight my way into the AJ/Fury fight. I was asked to do this and I accepted it.

Dana White told Jack Figg

When British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) released the list of promoters for Fury vs Joshua, White’s name was not listed. The UFC CEO still insists that he will promote and produce the fight in Cardiff, Wales.

The build-up to the fight has seen many unusual elements. First, Joshua and Hearn insisted on a UK venue instead of MSG in New York. Once that was granted, they moved on to limit White’s involvement. However, it appears that White will get to promote the superfight moving forward.

For most of the fight promotion, it has revolved around White and Hearn instead of Fury and ‘AJ.’ Nevertheless, it has worked as people are talking about the superfight.

Dana White reveals expected live gate revenue for Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua

Regardless of the complicated contractual stuff, Dana White is actively promoting the Fury vs Joshua superfight. ‘The Gypsy King’ had nothing but praiseworthy words to say about White promoting the upcoming superfight.

The Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales has 80,000 seats available. As such, the event will have a huge live gate revenue. White revealed to Figg that his team’s assessment suggests that the gate revenue will be over $30 million.

Yeah, definitely, definitely. It, it will be. I, I don’t want to mis-speak here, where, but we have this thing, uh, scaled for like, uh, around $34 million US… I think no matter where this fight was, obviously the UK is the right place for this fight to happen, but I think it would have done well anywhere.

Dana White told Jack Figg

A massive gate like that will be a win for the event. Alalshikh promised the superfight earlier this year and he will now deliver it to British boxing fans.

UFC CEO Dana White doesn’t want all the glory in the upcoming Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua superfight. As such, he admitted that Hearn and Frank Warren were equally deserving of the promoter credit.

I am producing the fight, me and my team will be producing the fight that night. And obviously I am, I guess we’ll call me one of the promoters of the event, you know, because you do have Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn that are both promoters too, promoting the event.

Dana White said

On December 11, White revealed that it was his team that will produce the event. It remains to be seen if there will be more hiccups to come or will all the parties work together to give fans what they wish for.
